Where the hell did Theseus come from? Also, are Chuikov and Theseus NPCs? I'm just confused by their inclusion in the group.

I don't know why but I really want to trust Theseus. I know he's probably a trap but I really think he can help out.

I'm starting to think that maybe none of us were given evil roles at the beginning.

I think it's an awful idea to follow Brie but I really think I'd do well to join an early group.

I really worry about the sanity of the other players, talking about lynching Theseus seems like the scummiest thing I've ever heard. Theseus clearly was brought into the Labyrinth by Willis for some purpose I suspect is benevolent, such as my original theory of Willis trying to rewrite the myth. Willis would not let his hard work go to waste. Theseus has a purpose for us all and it goes beyond the second phase.

"No point in waiting around. Later!" Said Parker with a grin.
He dashed towards the exit at the North and paused. There was a control panel next to the door. He shrugged and mashed the keypad. The door opened up. He charged into the next room and the rest of the group slowly milled through. Thomas was looking shell-shocked from the crash but some of the others pushed him over to the door.
Lincoln paused momentarily to look at the bridge overhead but shook his head and finally joined the others. Tyrese scrambled in the truck wreckage with a couple of others but there was nothing salvageable.
"Let's move on already." Said Dennis frustratedly. The last of them finally exited through the North entrance. It was truly beginning now.
The room beyond was very ordinary. Mikhail braced himself. Emperor Fong sniffed the walls curiously. Brie looked up at the concerned General questioningly.
"What's wrong?" She asked.
General Chuikov sighed. "It's too clean. Too empty. We're here in another corridor and they saw us coming but there's nothing. It would have almost been expected for an ambush but just emptiness everywhere. None of it feels right."
There were some murmurs of agreement. Things had gotten heated earlier. When there was nothing to do but tear at each other's throats in a confined space, it was a dangerous situation indeed.
Kane raised his finger to shush the group. The murmuring continued.
"That means shut up assholes!" He snarled.
"Why don't you-" Tyrese began but he stopped suddenly. There was a faint sound.
More purple sparks descended from the ceiling. They were getting more and more frequent. This whole room was alive in their electrical pulse.
"What is that stuff?" Said Hobert, attempting to reach out and catch one.
"DON'T!" Shouted Katy, pulling him back.
The sparks were spiraling towards the wall. When they collided there was a crashing sound. It was followed by a barely audible hum which seemed to be growing in frequency. Everybody braced themselves. This didn't look good. The sparks were whirling into life at an excessive rate now.
At their centre, a cascade of colours filled the room. Shades of violet and dark blue. Clouds of some kind of noxious purple energy leapt up from the surface. Nobody wanted to breathe as the light show picked up tempo. The room became awash with the sound of crackling energy as finally a great whooshing noise filled the air.
In the middle of the wall was a dark black hole. It swirled around. Cold air blew from it and the sparks and purple energy danced over the surface. It seemed to suck in the light from the room somehow but there was a faint image in it. An image of something that looked almost like...
A man.
And right at that moment, he was flung forth. He hurtled across the room, crashing hard into the far wall. The group scattered, taking care to avoid either him or the black hole in the wall. The sparks leapt away as slowly the mysterious energy portal vanished into dust.
Rubbing his head and cursing to himself quietly, the man looked up. He was dressed in a full suit of armour, and he had flowing blonde hair that cascaded down his shoulders. He seemed to reach for a scabbard but it was empty. Frantically darting his eyes around, he spied an enormous silver sword on the ground. It commanded a certain presence.
He dived stealthily and grabbed the hilt, swinging it up in the air in a furious arc. The sword seemed to slice through the sky, leaving a faint trail everywhere it went. He held it aloft and looked from person to person with a frantic and disturbed expression. All eyes were on him.
"You can put down the sword. What's your name? And where did you come from?" Said Mikhail diplomatically.
The armoured man snarled.
"My name is Theseus. I am the greatest hero the world has ever known. And I don't answer to the likes of you." He said bitterly.
It is now Phase 2. Phase 2 will end in roughly 24 hours from now.

It seems some of you are ignorant. I have no idea why you're here but I doubt the fat king sent you too. You don't exactly strike me as heroic. Then again none of the other fools did so nothing unusual there.
I'm not sure how you couldn't have heard of me. I was the first to conquer this wretched Labyrinth and slay the minotaur. This is all quite unfamiliar though. |
|
|
|
|
|
What in the hells?
Who are you people? What are you doing in this place? Answer me! |
You first. |
That's a fine head you have boy. What do you think it would look like on the ground? |
We asked you first, and we were here first. You're the one who magically appeared in a fury of sparkles. Only right that you explain yourself. Once you do I'd be happy to explain what we're here for. |
I didn't appear. You did. I'm always as I was.
I came to the Labyrinth to fulfill the requests of the bloated fool Minos. Are you his soldiers? No wonder you faltered so readily. |
|
|
Theseus, tell me, what is your sword? |
The most powerful blade ever crafted. Built in the forges of Olympus itself and cast down to the world. It can cut through anything known to man.
Which is why as the man with the sword, I presumed you to answer my questions first.
Maybe you don't believe in its power. I can gladly demonstrate. |
|
Very well. You want to see a show of power? I will show you power. |
|
Theseus raised his sword in the air with a grin. He charged forward and carved an arc through the air. The group members stepped back. Tyrese still looked doubtful. Theseus stood with his back against the wall and span around. He lifted the blade high above his head and drove the sword into the stone. It penetrated the thick wall without an issue. He held it there momentarily and pulled down. As he did, there was a rumbling noise.
Slowly the sword drove down through the stone wall. Sparks flung off in all directions as it did. It curved around at the base and came back around to the top before finally completing the arc. Theseus leaped backwards as an immense chunk of stone dropped from the wall. It crashed against the floor and shattered into pieces. |
|
Now stand aside. You can all rest assured in the fact that I don't care for company so at the first possible moment I will be leaving you...delightful...people. I'm just not sure you could cope with the pace I like to travel. You hardly seem experienced.
Can you answer me where you last came from at least? There are two doors here. |
|
Uhh...
Sure! I believe him now! Just... just put the sword away, please.
Alright, Theseus. It's like Katy said. We're here to take down the master of this labyrinth, a guy named Willis who has taken it over and subsequently turned the world to hellfire and chaos. We were sent here by a man named Gabriel McCoy, who chickened out of coming with us.
Assuming you really are Theseus, though, it's been around 2000 years since you bested the Labyrinth.
Now... what way did you come into this room from, and what was in there? |
|
The fat king employed us to investigate the labyrinth because his puny soldiers could not take it. I considered it a talent far below me but the reward was based entirely on us committing together. Being rid of them is a grace as far as I'm concerned.
Nonetheless I travel alone. I do not wish to be slowed down. |
|
There's a parallel here. How stupid of us to not see it before. |
|
I came from the South. This room is not what it should be. The layout of this place is burned into my mind.
Whatever you did, undo it! I cannot get my bearings! I demand this of you! |
|
I say that if this Theseus guy was evil, he would have sliced us just as he did the stone. We obviously are no match for his weapon. So, for that reason, I will listen to him.
Now Theseus, what is it that you want us to do? Do you really want to be alone here? As you say, things are not the way you remember them. And despite what you may believe, we are not responsible for this. But the asshole who is, he is the one we are after. Would you at least consider coming with us? |
|
What's your fucking problem, Tyrese? Stop acting like a fucking meathead dipshit and use your fucking brain for once. |
|
It's possible Theseus could be onto something. Three possibilities...
A) This isn't his Labyrinth.
B) The Labyrinth is changing
C) He's been teleported to a new part of the Labyrinth. |
|
|
|
I am not planning to go to the South. The South is where I just came from. I have just lost my bearings. |
What did the room to the South look like when you were there? |
The same way it always did. Minotaur statues along the walls. To intimidate and let us know what we were in for.
Well, when the beast was still alive anyway. I took care of that small matter. |
|
|
Theseus, I'll ask again. What year do you think it is? |
What kind of foolish questions do you ask, child? It is 743, the year of the twin serpents. Do your family lack the funds for timekeeping? |
|
Let's think. Suppose this is a ploy by Willis. Perhaps he's trying to rewrite history. It's insane to not see the parallels here. King Minos with infinite wealth and power = Gabriel. Minotaur, a creature a group of heroes are sent to kill = Willis/Other. Army of heroes = Army of bumbling idiots. |
|
A series of purple sparks cascaded down from the ceiling once more. The group stopped their interrogation and looked upwards. They began to collect and convene.
"Clear the area!" Shouted Ezra to the group.
They dashed away. Theseus stood there watching in awe. Spinning around to face the others, he looked confused.
"Where are you fools going?! Answer me at once!"
He drew his sword. He was getting tired of playing these games. He raised his sword above his head and glanced around at the scared faces with a smirk. Finally justice could be done.
And behind him a great cold wind fell. He span his head around as the humming increased. There was another hole, this time it was floating in the air. It swirled and cascaded. Strange violet glowing energy fell from it. Theseus turned to look at the others in fear as slowly the world began to pull.
The group held their positions tightly as the whole room was being sucked into the glowing portal. Theseus yelled out in rage and cursed as his footing skidded across the floor. Purple sparks flitted through his hair.
And full bodily, he was thrust through the space.
The sucking stopped and the group stood watching the glowing portal nervously. It didn't collapse. Every so often a spark would fly from the surface and ground itself in the floor.
Angela walked towards it curiously. She approached the surface and looked inside.
There appeared to be a room through there...but it was hard to make out. The surface rippled like a lake and the images beyond were distorted. Whenever they became clear, they would shift or be replaced by darkness and purple energy.
"....None of it matters."
Angela leaped back as the voice filled the room. Just at that moment, the portal shrunk down and evaporated in a flash of purple and blue energy. Sparks cascaded down from where it had stood and buried themselves in the ground.
Theseus was gone.
|
|
Hold on, what was he counting based off of? Theseus was BC, and they could not count down to an event they were unaware of so what exactly did he mean by 743? |
|
*squints eyes*
*recognizes shapes*
*thinks*

I don't really understand the malice directed at Theseus. Perhaps he's an antagonist, we don't know that for certain and can't know that until we're given the chance. And when we're given the chance WE have to give him the chance to prove he's good.
