Or better, we can ask them "What would the other statue say if I asked it [insert question]?"
That way, If we ask the one telling the truth, he would say what the lie was, and the one lying would say what the truth is not, the lie. The correct answer would thus be the opposite of the answer given from both. This way we confirm our answers every time, no matter what shenanigans Willis pulls, and we don't waste any questions.

I would be all for this, save for the fact that we'd have to load all of our questions this way, as it does not reveal who the liar is.

It wouldn't matter, we'd get our answer. If you wanted the true answer, you could ask "what would the other say that you would say that the other would say if I asked [question]?" . We'd have our answer, and it wouldn't matter who was telling th turth or not. Here's a diagram that explains the question:

I would rather keep the question wording as simple as possible.

I completely understand the way this riddle works, trust me. I just didn't want to make it too confusing for people to understand.

Ok, so questions would be worded like "would the other guard tell us that it was possible for everyone in our group to win together?" or "would the other guard say the key was in the south eastern area of the map?" etc.

unless we can come up with more than 11 questions, i dont see a problem with asking "are you red" or "are you blue"

trust me I could come up with a butt ton of questions if we had the time to ask them. like "would the other guard tell us there is a way to cure Wikey's muteness?" or "would the other guard tell us there is a way to defeat Cerberus" or "would the other guard tell us the exit key is in a room adjacent to a train shuttle station?" or "would the other guard tell us that someone in this room is holding the chalk?"

etc.

All right here is the plan y'see
We ask if the ass clown is sane y'see
If he's scum we let him have it y'see
Then we ask if somebody has the key y'see
If nobody has it, we ask a series of questions using helly's map to locate the key y'see
got it?

Shouldnt we just ask if there is scum in the group rather then ask if Wikey is one? If we get a no then everyone is cleared, if we get a yes then either someones alignment changed or Wikey is scum.

Asking if its more west / east and north / south should give us a 6x6 box to look in rather than 12x12, which could be useful.

If we have any questions after that id say we try and narrow down the rows (like if we say the row with the sanctuary is row 1 and the row south of that one is row 2 and the row south of that one is row 3 etc, is the key in any of rows 10,11,12). Im sure someone can word it better. Thus we can narrow it down some more.

I agree that finding scum is important, but it's worth pointing out that we also have to account for the fact that we have several inactives dragging around with us, who haven't been cleared and who aren't likely to ask any questions. If one of them is scum, we run the risk of creating a lot of unnecessary paranoia.

I would recommend that we begin by asking a test question, then try and narrow down the key's location using a series of strategic questions. Bagshot, you mentioned that the exits are wrong. I'm wondering if the map has been rotated in some way? If this room originally had a tunnel, but doesn't any more, it could mean that the tunnels, doors, and walls remained exactly where they were, but the contents of the rooms changed.

If we can establish how the map changed, that might mean that our old maps can give us some helpful clues as to where to go next, rather than having to retrace our steps. I'd say that getting our bearings and finding the key are more important atm than finding out scum.

Also I dont think we should be afraid of accidentally asking them. We probably have to put it in some sort of format. Like if there was a green guard

##Ask Green Guard: Is the sky blue?

I dont think the exits are wrong at the moment. They might have been wrong at the start of the phase.

But yeah using some sort of binary search is obviously the best way to narrow down the keys location.
