Chapter 8: Having a pint

"Grandpa, that looked just like... MOM! What is going on?"
"No, no. That's just a coincidence - it's only a story. Don't worry!"
"Uh... okay, Grandpa."

"Other than that, what do think you of the story so far?" he asked, trying to distract his grandson.
"Well... it was really cool when the six-fingered man died!"
"You enjoyed that, did you?"
"Yes! Is there going to be more cool stuff?"
"Let's find out, shall we?"

Grandpa continued on...

He was walking around town, and was somewhat... confused. His mind actually felt a bit... abused.

With everything going on it was hard to know who to trust. After having a pint at the local tavern, he found an empty stable which seemed private enough. There was clean straw which would work fine for a bed tonight.

"This will do for my bed... tonight. Tomorrow will tell if we win this... fight!" He proudly announced to an empty stable.

He settled in and soon drifted off into an alcohol-induced sleep.

It didn't seem like he had been asleep long when something woke him with a start! It was still dark out and he felt something around his neck - it was being pulled very tight. He dug at it with his big, meaty hands, but he couldn't get his fingers under it. In fact, it was getting tighter and tighter, no matter how hard he tried. Pretty soon, he slipped away into an eternal slumber, dreaming of large women.

Elsewhere, there was another man, minding his own business. He had also been at the tavern and walked past an empty stable on his way home. He thought he heard loud snoring which stopped abruptly, but he dismissed it and went on his way. Soon, he started to feel like he was being followed. He looked behind him but saw no one.

'Everyone else must be safe and cozy in their homes by now. Time for me to do the same,' he thought.

As he arrived home, he was almost to his front door when he realized the axe was missing from the chopping stump by his woodpile. He went to investigate. He looked all around but didn't see it anywhere. Shaking his head in annoyance and making a mental note to look again in the light of the morning, he started to head inside... but, before he even took a step, a slight movement behind the woodpile caught his peripheral vision. He walked over to the woodpile, picked up a piece of wood for protection and walked around to look behind the high pile of wood.

All of a sudden he was faced to face with someone - very scary. His instincts told him to defend himself. He raised his piece of wood and struck, but the attacker was too swift - and he had an axe. His axe! The axe easiy cut the piece of wood in two. With the next slice, it ended his life! He slumped over the woodpile, dead.

This day is critical. And I have some info (I think?)

But I think it's in town's best interest if I slow roll it. I'll reveal what I know before midnight tonight based on what is said and what isn't.

I think my action worked but I didn't get a pm, so I'm not sure.
