it was...okay. I feel like this is a movie that would've absolutely terrified me as a kid (reminded me of the painting in MOUSE HUNT!!) but the horror felt kinda silly to me here. Not only that but the death scenes started to feel extremely repetitive after like the first two. I did appreciate the gag with the assistant girl stumbling upon THREE of her bosses bodies tho
Gyllenhaal was definitely the bright spot and he deserved a better movie around him, he basically brought his A game to some schlocky B movie. Favorite scene for sure was when he stumbles into his girlfriend's apartment and sees the artist making breakfast, his freakout and the guy's reaction afterwards were hilarious. And I enjoyed his character's little quips throughout, like when he dissed the color of that one dude's casket. I also thought his character had the only really good death but that's mostly cuz I loved the look of that weird animatronic dude
idk I feel like this movie would've been more fun and worked better if it was just committed to being a tongue-in-cheek satire of the art world rather than a horror movie

Agreed with all of this

Gyllenhaal was easily the highlight of the movie. He absolutely cracked me up, his mannerisms were so perfect. And agreed with the artist's reaction. When she was like, you've never been all that fascinating to me, and he just goes "ooo damnn" under his breath. PS that's Daveed Diggs from Blindspotting and he's fantastic and you should watch that
Disagreed about his death though, I wanted a way better ending from him. The robot was definitely great/creepy and that little chase was great but just the actual moment of death was lackluster. I wanted his character's story to culminate in something bigger
Wish they had more fun with the deaths. Toni's was the best imo but they spoiled it in the trailer for some stupid reason. I was so amused by everyone thinking her corpse and blood were just part of the exhibit. The kids walking around in the blood. So funny. Those jokes about the art world were EASILY the movie's strengths, the first chunk was really working for me because of that
Overall a fine/moderately fun watch worth it for Gyllenhaal. 6/10
i liked the concept of this movie a lot and i enjoyed the end a lot more than the beginning, i think. it kind of just borrowed from other horror stereotypes, though. i dunno!! i didn’t like it. Jake did really well despite the rest. And I thought the Coco storyline of her bosses continuously dying was pretty funny.
Except im pissed like you all already said that the trailer LITERALLY had every death in it? Maybe aside from the last woman.. but if im being honest that ruined the whole movie for me. I understand Tatto is art so that killing her like MAKES SENSE I guess but it was truthfully so fucking stupid. Jake and Toni stole the show for sure. Coco's storyline was also hilarious. It was a weird mix of like ironic comedy but also like... 'wtf' comedy? haha. I agree Jakes death was INSANELY lack luster and honestly his character was SO SAD. Ed AND Josephina fucking him over emotionally?! Rude! I did cackle at the 'what is that... bog orange? did he get i on sale?' ttalking about the coffin. And finally I also think Josephinas death was lack luster af. I HIGHLY enjoyed that she bitched about Graffit not being art and then like that being her death but idk. I wanted MORE. But hey, im always up for a weird/differnent movie. espeically of the horror variety
