I’m realizing how many modern classics I haven’t played. RANKED:
Overwatch: Always fun. A refreshing game. It’s easy to see why it’s still so popular
Hitman: Big fan of the series and I really loved this new one. I gotta get back into it, I played the first two missions for many many hours in many different ways. Never got boring
Battlefield I: Fun, but didn’t get as into it as I did 2-4. I was out of college at this point so didn’t have my great four flatscreen squad experience. I spent sometime playing on XB1 with college friends, some time playing on PC with FE’ers which was really just KC getting sniped in the head over and over, and most of the time playing alone on PC since my friends are more into consoles. Made the game disjointed for me and less enjoyable, but the game itself is really good
Firewatch: I sorta like the vibe of the game and the design and website and the artwork more than the gameplay itself but that’s fine. Images from this game were at different points my phone background, computer wallpaper, and hung on my wall. Game was still fun though
Oxenfree: I liked this at the time but have retained 0 information about it

Overwatch - I'm absolutely balls at it but it is very fun with a group of friends. I never play it by myself as it isn't really my type of game, but I have a lot of fun whenever I play it.
Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - Uncharted pretty much made getting a PS4 worth it. I heard about UC4 being very good and almost got a bundle with my PS4 initially, but decided I better try the first three before I dive into the fourth. Binged 1-3, loved them and then finally got to play 4 and was amazed. It's an absolutely beautiful game and I'm always so relaxed and satisfied when I play this series. Some of the fights are kind of annoying, as with pretty much all Naughty Dog games, but the puzzles and story and tombs made it all worth it.
Hitman - Really fun. I've only played a few missions but with how elaborate the stages are the multiple ways you can complete them, it makes for a lot of replay value.
Firewatch - Way too short and the literal defintion of a walking simulator. I really enjoyed it for what it was and liked the story, but wish I had more bang for the $20 I spent on it.
The Last Guardian - I only played like three levels. Pretty sure I bought this before I got Mafia III, which I was very hyped about so it ended up on the backburner and I never got back to it.
Mafia III - There's a lot of flaws to it, no doubt about it. But I enjoyed it so, so much. Lincoln Clay is such a great protaganist and the documentary feel to it was very fun. Only thing I didn't like was how repetitive it got with the Assassin's Creed-like system of drawing out each boss by doing things in each territory and how empty the world felt. Mafia I and II both ran off chapters with unique stories behind each one, I wish they kept that here.
Battlefield 1 - Played a few times with Curtis. It ran like ass on my computer. I'm not very good at these types of games but the whole huge battles seemed very fun for the little I got to enjoy them.
Stardew Valley - Harvest Moon 64 holds a very special place in my heart. This game is a shameless copy of Harvest Moon in general, but does it very well.
Oxenfree - SMELL THAT FRESH AIR, BOYS AND GIRLS... BOY AND GIRL. The game eluded for the longest time because I REALLY wanted to play it on Steam but it kept fucking crashing and I could not ever find a fix. I never refunded it on hope that something would get patched so I could play it, but it never did. When I got my PS4, I was surprised to find Oxenfree was even on there and got it that same day. I really enjoyed the characters and the hang out sequences that got to know the characters better, but the short play time kind of left me wanting a lot more. I also got a very shit ending because I'm bad at video games.
Honorables:
Pokemon GO - Fucked around with it for about a half hour. Didn't get into the whole craze. It became a bit of an epidemic at work as people were taking long breaks to catch pokemon outside and were doing it in the store on the clock while stocking freight. Then our goofy market manager comes along and makes us set up a "pokemon trainer station" in Electronics. |

If you want to play it I'll Co-op with ya. It's fun with friends but it's not great. Just further alongs the story. |

I just realized it's only on Xbox and Windows, neither of which I have anymore! Maybe that's why I didn't hear about it.

a lot more mixed than 2013, that one's hard to beat
Overwatch - have played a ludicrous amount of this since launch, probably put about 1000 hours total in at this point (which is definitely the first time I've done that with any game, probably the first I've put >200 tbh). It finally started losing its luster for me this year but a lot of gr8 memories with this game. I'll never forget how exciting/addicting it was when it first launched, and doing LAN parties with friends was really fun
Oxenfree - gr8 little game, loved the atmosphere. Like Curtis tho I've forgotten a lot about the actual story at this point (:
The Witcher 3 - it's dece and looks great, but I couldn't get into it no matter how much I wanted to. I can definitely SEE the appeal tho and why it's so beloved
Firewatch - it was aight. It had its MOMENTS but fizzled out and in the end was p disappointing
Battlefield 1 - meh. Gave the campaign and online a fair shake but quickly ended up going back to OW for my FPS fix. Frostbyte is definitely the nicest looking engine out there tho, I'll give it that
DOOM - played for like an hour and refunded. Not too into shoot 'em ups

o, honorable mentions:
Inside - never finished. Wasn't a huge fan
Dishonored 2 - again, played but never finished. I enjoyed the first one for its gameplay but besides that these games are a poor man's BioShock in every way
Pokemon GO - p fun? I promptly stopped playing after that first summer but that was KWITE the phenomenon. I liked how it brought everyone together in a way

Overwatch - I've been a lot calmer since I stopped playing
Firewatch - interesting game. Loved the scenery and design. Beautiful game.
Witcher 3 - a game I really wanted to get into, but, like Skyrim, got too many things on my plate in the game and I eventually stopped.
