I thought it was a good premier. Glad to see certain fans back like Phillip and Cochran. Pretty meh on some others. The fans are alright so far. They seem more capable than the first set of fans

Srsly, my Max Payne 3 clip recordings are truly epic shit ;D

I watched! Lol'd at Fran. Respect her for trying to do something but same mistake twice. Corinne I liked quite a bit. Phillip was typically awesome. Andrea/Cochran could be interesting. Looking forward to Brandon next week! But probably just overblown whatever he did. Fans seemed kinda boring except the big black guy getting mad.
I notice that Probst's Malboner is still firmly in place.
If you pay attention, actually, Malcolm tries to put himself in the challenge rotation in such a way that he can claim the victory. He scored the last point for the Faves in the reward challenge, and proceeded to give a confessional talking about how great it was that he got to be the one to do it, then took the sandbag throwing for the IC. It's also worth noting that the fact that he singlehandedly blew a massive lead and cost the Favorites the win didn't come up at ALL. There wasn't a single confessional about it, and Probst made a point of completely avoiding the topic during Tribal Council.
I'm also liking Cochran a heck of a lot more this season. It seems like he's mellowed out quite a bit since last time, and now that he's actually got a bit of confidence, he's surprisingly entertaining. One of the best moments of the entire episode was him deadpanning, "I'm actually in terrible pain right now."
I do kind of hope that Phillip's crazytown alliance dies a quick and painful death. Erik, Brandon, and Brenda are three of my favorites on that tribe, and I hate the idea of Blandrea and Phillip sticking around to remind us why Retardation Island was the worst season in the history of the show. (Though, I will give Andrea props. She completely screwed her initial alliance with Francesca and Dawn. These days, any Survivor player having the ability to recognize that their alliance wasn't helping them out and actually doing something to improve that is the equivalent of a tadpole learning to talk. A Redemption Island alumni realizing that their alliance isn't helping them and actually doing something to improve that is the equivalent of a tadpole learning to pilot a spaceship while playing a flawless rendition of Beethoven's 5th Symphony.) But I can't help thinking that Brandon's insane vengeance is going to guarantee that Cochran and Dawn remain solid Phillistines, and we're going to have to put up with that garbage for the entire freakin' season.
Thoughts on the fans will come later.
"If Rebekah could keep doing this, she could gain favor and become a ruthless dictator."
I want to rewatch because I mostly only listened as it was on in the background, so I don't have the best recollection of the episode. Personally I like Phillip and Cochran and Dawn from their seasons and I am still enjoying them. I also really loved the fan woman who was so excited that she kept shouting descriptions of the Favs, but had nothing really good to say about them. "OMG THAT'S RUSSELL'S NEPHEW!!" "ICE CREAM SCOOPER GUY!!!!"
I don't even know who it was but if any fan wins the million I hope its her

I noticed the same thing about Malcolm. He always tries to be the hero. He did the same in challenges during Phillipines too. I'm glad Reynold beat him this week
Cochran's my favorite so far. Phillip and Dawn too
Surprisingly, I would actually recommend it. The first episode was one of the stronger premieres they've had in recent seasons, and I think there will actually be quite a few characters. I can see a few story arcs through to completion already (the ill-fated "cool kids table" alliance, the Hantz ritual suicide, etc), but there's enough going on that it could well be an entertaining season.

Hmm. Well, if this would be your first ever watchthrough, I'd probably recommend starting off with a different season. Probably you'd want to watch Australia (if only because the players in Borneo were unbelievably naive, and it's so far removed from the show today that it wouldn't communicate anything useful), or potentially Amazon.
