kinda disappointed Elsie is back cuz that character/actress sux, but whatever
All the mini QUESTS in this ep were really engaging, there wasn't a real weak link. But the MIB flashbacks/present day story definitely was the highlight. I'm guessing the 'other' prototype besides Delos will be Ford?? Or maybe that's too obvious. Not sure how that'd work anyway since Ford seems p content to just orchestrate things from the grave Jigsaw-style
sorta wish that Conferado guy didn't die so soon, he was quickly becoming a great villain. Not sure what made MIB suddenly care about the hosts?? He said to "Ford" at the end that he was just playing his game, but not sure how that helps him besides leaving him with a more stable group that probably wouldn't turn their gun on him as soon as they get what they want from him?? Speaking of, loved that they used the same little girl as Ford's voice again, there's something so eerie about it
and I guess that Eastworld girl is explained now. The character's not doing much for me yet but I'm curious to see where that goes
I love love LOVE their approach to dealing with the multiple storylines thing like I mentioned before. There is so much going on but it's not muddled because they have a certain scope of what they want to focus on each episode and I agree that this one was probably the best so far. It's cool to finally get some exposition on the true nature of the facility and even though it was kinda predictable it was cool to see their process of trying to convert humans into hosts. Probs smart for Bernard to not tell Elsie that he highkey killed everyone in that room, but I'm wondering if it comes up and if he does eventually try and kill her again.
Ed Harris is the man and I guess he's softening up a bit now that the stakes are real? Also looking forward to see how the thing goes with his daughter.
Not as much as FINALLY seeing Samurai-World next episode given we've been waiting for basically 2 years for it.
The other type being ford would make sense given he did basically just kill himself, and can't say I can really think of anyone else it could be. Not like he seemed to care about many people in the park unless its for a character that hasn't been introduced yet. Especially considering the fact the core clearly doesn't work, I have no idea what he could want with it unless he knew how to get it to work and didn't want the "money-men" to do it.
okay, wow, the scope of things, this was INDEED the best episode this season. many great things about it, will give more opinion on that after a rewatch in original sound. but one thing really bothered me, even though just for 10 seconds or so:
stupid elsie. there is nothing in that cave she said to bernard, she was there all the time bla bla...then bernard follows some flashback sequence to find the switch behind that rock and it turns out that the spot elsie was shackled to, it was RIGHT in front of the "hidden" door, to the super secret human/host/humost facility etc. you could CLEARY see there was something in that wall...well it felt like a slip in writing...other than that, VERY good!
and yeah wikey it felt like a movie. when I saw the episodes' runtime was over an hour I almost lost my shit, expected some 50 minutes and got 15 more!

EXACTLY what I was thinking. I was gonna come into this thread and ask you guys if you got Lost vibes. This scene in particular reminded me of Desmond obviously but also Bernard/Elsie discovering the hidden lab reminded of a later Dharma bunker discovery, like The Flame or something
They definitely had to have drawn inspiration with the Delos/Desmond scenes at least

I'm glad we took a quick break from Dolores/Teddy and Maeve's stories. All the stories here were really strong and complimented each other well
Loved all three of the Delos/William meetings. The dialogue paper reveal in the second one and then the modern day William in the third. And Delos' "death" scene at the end and the reveal that he was still in there was so good. Cart you recognize that actor??? He killed it throughout this episode
I think the show lost a lot of empathy from me towards the hosts between s1 and s2. Thats definitely been my biggest complaint recently. S1 did such a good job of making you care about the hosts despite knowing they were robots and it raised a lot of tricky questions about the treatment of them and about their 'memories' and stuff, but s2 I haven't cared as much for whatever reason
BUT for the first time since S1 I felt bad for the treatment of a host with Delos. And we don't even know him! AND he was apparently an asshole! But it was still fucked up for William to torture him like that. The fact that they got me caring there was p. successful. It also added a lot to William's character
Not sure why he decided to have a heart at the end there either. I was worried he was gonna get himself killed, I would've been annoyed since he definitely should not be the type to get himself killed to save a host. And yet he still risked it which is..weird, I don't get it
Elsie is pretty awful, I'm not happy to see her back. "I always trusted code more than people anyway". She's kinda cringe
Ford makes the most sense as the person they're trying to immortalize. But could it just be...Arnold? I'm a little (a lot) confused on that whole thing. Like, Arnold died and then Ford made Bernard in his image, but Bernard has his memories (dead son)? Is that just a backstory that he implanted or is it more like a Delos situation and Bernard is actually remembering Arnold's memories? And does it matter? I'm not sure, I'm really foggy on some of that stuff
Also didn't like them skipping over Elise finding out her colleague/good pal Bernard was actually a host, that was a missed opportunity. I wish she just didn't know who choked her out and then found out this episode that he was a host because of the way his body and speech were failing or something

even more impressive after finding out this was Lisa Joy's first crack at directing ever. What a debut
and yeah I knew I recognized Delos from somewhere but couldn't place it til I looked it up afterwards. MITCHAM! That actor's apparently great at playing total assholes who are still somewhat sympathetic

This whole season felt like LOST, then they did a hatch episode with Delos.
And I've been kind of bored with Delores, so I think I enjoyed this episode a lot because she wasn't in it. I'm more interested now in Bernard, Maeve, and William/MIB.

Bernard made Rebus empathetic and we last saw him chasing that lady saying he’ll protect her. Now that scene in the premiere makes sense when he throws himself in front of the gun and saved her. “Kill a woman?! Not on my watch!!”
