A week or so ago I mentioned Letterboxd in a reply in the movie tracker thread. A few of you showed some interest in it so it might be a good idea to get its own thread. (Or maybe Curtis told me to)

Letterboxd is a website where you can track the movies you watch, rate and review them, and follow other members to see what they watch. You can even log movies you rewatch which is fun. It's pretty simple but I really like using it. It's pretty much how I've decided what to watch next since I've started using it.

Currently, only four of us are on it but all of you should join too.

Everyone join, I’ve become a bit obsessed with it

I’ve always wanted to:
- have a list of every movie I’ve ever seen
- have a place where I can post different ranking lists of movies
- have a list of my 100 favorites movies

And this makes it super easy. Tracking every movie you’ve seen sounds daunting but again, this makes t simple. I just scroll through lists on here and click the watches icon as I go. I’m stil finding a lot of leftovers that I haven’t added yet but my full list is starting to feel complete

My favorite thing is probably the list making feature. Me/Jacob/Boc like making movie lists in general and this makes it way easier. I’ve been making top 10’s of each year and ranking Tarantino movies, Spielberg movies, etc

IT’S FUN DO IT

Every Thursday they do a community challenge list. Each week is a theme, like two weeks ago the theme was creature feature so you make your own personal list of favorite creature features. Then at the end of the week they tally everyone’s up and make a ranking of the most mentioned movies

It’s both, the app is really intuitive so that’s nice

You don’t join a group, you follow each other so you’ll see a feed of each other’s reviews and ratings and lists etc

The only thing I don’t like is the name

As the IMDb messageboards were being shut down this is the website that was being pushed as the chosen replacement.

I think it does a p. good job of that.

Exactly. I’m trying to get a full list of every movie I’ve seen straight through

The Diary option lets you add a movie onto a timeline of sorts as soon as you watch it. So you have a calendar basically of everything you watch this year. Seems like a cool feature but I probably won’t use it
