I gave it a 10.

I loved the music in it and I really connected with the characters in the movie. I honestly feel like I'm going to end up watching this movie all the time and showing it to people when I can. I had moments where I actually laughed out loud by myself which is pretty rare in movies unless I really enjoy the movie. (I think the only other movie I really laughed like that in was Moonrise Kingdom.)

BIG FAN. I'm gonna download the soundtrack.

God I really love the music in this. I think that's really why it's one of my new favorites. And I think they did a good job of how 15 year olds would act discovering new music. Especially with the "What the hell is Happy-Sad?" scene. I thought that was spot-on.

The only thing I didn't really enjoy that much was how the thing with Barry played out. It seemed like a weird way wrap up and get him onto their side. I don't think it was done that great but I don't think it really took away from the movie or anything, I think it just could have been done better or been left out.

GOOOOOOOD shit

An 8 fits my feelings v well. I really liked it

Riddle of the Model was a goofy as shit song (which was the purpose ofc and technically speaking it was good) but boy did the music get genuinely good after that. Up was my favorite song I think. It's the second of the movie, the one Conor and Eamon start writing alone and the camera pans to show time's gone by and the rest of the band is there killing it. That was great, probably my favorite scene of the movie

Song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xko3ZGt7wSc

Loved the cast up and down the line, especially Jack Reynor as the older brother. I've only seen him in Free Fire before and he was funny there, but here he was really great. I loved his character. He was nearly the choice to play young Han Solo and narrowly lost out which is a bummer, I would've loved to see him get it even more now

Family dynamics felt real/sad. Brendan's breakdown especially and his bit about blazing a trail for his brother. Awesome character

Main kid was really good. I just looked him up and he's a singer/songwriter so it seems like that really was his voice, he's good. A typical but sweet relationship between him and Raphina

Rest of the kids were good. Eamon was my favorite.

"What are you doing?"
"Just bunny stuff."

"We're not ready. We have exams, we need to prepare for them. Will there be girls at the disco?"
"Yes."
"I say we do it."

He was hilarious. Also loved the pianist trying to steal the spotlight during the first video. And the short kid in the cowboy costume during that video, when they all strut down the alley and pose at the end and he does his cowboy move, I lol'd. And again at the end of the video when it zooms in on his vampire teeth. Other funny moment was when Barry gets yelled at by his dad and runs a few feet away and kicks the trash violently. Agreed Josh that it made me laugh out loud at several moments. There's a couple of other really funny parts that I'm trying to think of specifically but I forget, someone halp

AND CHECK OUT THOSE MOVIES ON LITTLEFINGER!! The Back to the Future-esque dream sequence was my other favorite scene of the movie. More great music

Really great overall. Music/humor/cast/fun editing elevated it, very optimistic story

Oh and I loved the wardrobe changes at school after each new style of music they'd discover and be influenced by, that was really fun

Outside of the original music the soundtrack was really good, Duran Duran and A-Ha and The Cure. At one point they had a slowed down piano version of Take on Me, I loved that

Eh it was ok. Worth watching but nothing more. Told my wife to watch it because I think she would like it. I did enjoy the music which was surprising but being much older then the cast it didn’t relate to me. If I was younger I think I would have liked it more

I'm glad the band manager didn't end up getting a ton of screentime because I could barely make out what he was saying half the time

Just finished it and I loved it. Definitely an 8 for me. I felt like it was just a super solid feel good movie.

I loved the music, definitely a great soundtrack. You had the perfect mix of catchy 80's hits and garage band sound. I thought it was super fun listening to an iconic 80's song and then seeing how it influenced the band's look and sound in later scenes.

I felt like it was a movie that everyone could enjoy in some aspect. I could recommend this movie to just about anyone and bet they would enjoy it. It was super hilarious but knew when to turn on the serious tone when it needed. Really powerful speech from the older brother. You could really sense his frustration with being stuck in his parent's basement instead of running away to London.

Up was definitely my favorite song out of the bunch. Have to say that was my favorite scene as well. I love the spinning transition in the living room and just the overall vibe of the scene. I thought it capsulated the whole movie in that moment very well.

One thing I am gonna say is that I really wish we got more from the other bandmates. The red head kid was cracking me up early on in the movie, and then after 30 mins, it felt like him and the rest of the band just became background set pieces. I just wanted to get to know him and a few of the other bandmates more. I totally get that the movie focused in on Connor's family/love life and his story, just kind of wish it threw more in there. Hard to hold that against the movie though, still loved it.

Also, Barry throwing the kid off stage killed me. What a dude.

Also, if you haven't seen Once I DEFINITELY recommend it. It's a lot more serious than Sing Street but still has a lot of charm to it. The soundtrack is incredible too.

So Im writing my comments before reading others so sorry if I repeat stuff but...

YOU GET AN 8 SING STREET.

God damn. What a good film. Such a feel-good movie. I was nervous at first for the amount of comic relief I was seeing. But eventually I found it legitimately funny. Racial humor gets me, so of course Raphina wanting to wear a kimono for a Chinese-theme video and the epic recruitment of Ngin into the band really got me sold.

There's a lot of things relatable in the movie. It's easy for this film to connect with a wide audience. Watching parents going through divorce. Changing schools and starting from scratch. Bullies. New friends. Crushes. Siblings. Everything.

It's beyond perfect that the cast was full of teenagers. Only teenagers would be dumb enough to follow their dreams.

The scene that spoke to me most was when Brendan yelled at Cosmos. Brendan being the oldest sibling and paving the way for Cosmos to succeed. Not asking really for thanks or anything, just that it is what it is. And then connecting that scene to the end of the movie with Brendan yelling in excitement for Cosmos and Raphina sailing the ship out to London. As a younger brother, it made me think of all the shit my sister went through as the oldest child to make my upbringing easy. And she's not even mad at my successes despite the challenges she had to face, just like Brendan. Yup, my favorite characters/dynamic was definitely this brother/brother relationship.

Also love that the final song at the prom dealt with bullying and served as a big fuck you to brother baxter. It just felt right. They're at a prom and school so bullying as the final message of a teenage band just makes sense.

The big MVP goes to this casting director. Literally each person was cast for each role perfectly.

Def had to watch the movie with subtitles. Some of those accents were thick!

But all in all great film. I'm sure if I had more knowledge of the musical inspirations they pulled from to create their songs, I'd have even more to say. But even without that, I've enjoyed this film quite nicely.

10 out of 10

Hilarious, heartwarming, heartbreaking at times. The "I was a fucking jet engine" part was so good.
