The Witcher 3
or
Skyrim
I've tried to play through Skyrim and I've struggled with feeling any sort of accomplishment. I just felt like I was pouring hours and hours of time and getting nowhere. And maybe that's actually the point of the game. But I have struggled with the side quest stuff that makes the game feel far greater than it should. I can't tell what quests are necessary and right when I'm starting to feel on track, I go on a quest tangent and wind up on the other side of the world than I meant to.
Now, I do get this is the fun part or the draw about the game, but I find it hard to stay focused and I eventually lost interest.
I've heard AMAZING things about The Witcher series, the third in particular. Curious what everyone's experiences were with these games and which they preferred.
My uncle bought The Witcher 3 on steam and I was going to try to dive into it. But any sort of tips about it would be helpful. Like how to enjoy it to the best of my ability.

Still curious about this. Anyone who has played both and has insight to why one may be better than the other/worth more of my time, let me know!

Well, I'm not asking based on what I've experienced. I'm asking from people on here who have played both. Is it worth continuing with Skyrim, or is Witcher really good.

Maybe I'm less asking which is better and more like, if I couldn't really get into Skyrim after a while, is Witcher similar with the sense of dissatisfaction and being overwhelmed with quests? Basically, should I even bother with Witcher based off what I said about Skyrim. I think that's a better question.

So they're pretty similar?
I know you've spent a lot of time with Skyrim. Don't know how much of the Witcher you've played.

Witcher 3 is super great. Definitely would recommend even if you haven't played the previous games. At the start it will make you decide shit that geralt did in previous games but overall you won't notice much from that, so don't stress.
Advice would be to not get burned out. It's tempting to want to do EVERYTHING in every zone, and you're welcome to do it, but at some point I just got exhausted and wanted to do the main quest to finish the game

I tried playing Witcher II and couldn't get into it at all. /shrug. Never played the third one. I don't think it's your type of game tbqh.
Don't force yourself to try to like something just because other people do. If you couldn't get into Skyrim before, you're not going to now. I personally love Skyrim and all Bethesda games in general, but they are a niche genre. And even though I have played Skyrim on and off since like 2013, I STILL haven't even come close to finishing the main story because I always get sidetracked and then put it down for awhile. I like that, but some people don't. You clearly do not but that's a huge part of the game experience. |

I think I just like to feel like I'm accomplishing something. I'm not good at mindless games. But it's weird. It's not a mindless game, but you kind of do a lot of traveling and do things as you go. I like set objectives.

Maybe try Fallout since it's a little bit more story & dialogue driven and makes a very clear objective from you in the beginning (find dad, find the dude who tried to kill you or find your son). Skyrim is based on lore and atmosphere with the story kind of unraveling as you learn more about the history. |
