Not at all surprised. I heard a lot of good things about the book series but I thought he trailers for this looked dopey as hell

The books were great, I've been waiting for this movie for years.

Initial reviews seem terrible, I'm kind of scared to go see it tbh

Although I don't know how you could cram 7 novels worth of material into one movie unless they were planning on making more, this just seems like a mess

Are the two leads good choices? I read Elba almost salvages it but Mcconaughey is rough

This is mostly just pushing the first book with some adaptations is my understanding, with the possibility of a ton more movies if it pays off. It means things have gotten changed that I'm less comfortable with (such as moving a lot of action to Jake's Earth). Not sure how I feel about that still, given Jake dying and coming to the Gunslinger, then sacrificing himself is key to it all.

LOL- it's like 100 pages into the thousands that the Dark Tower ends up being. It's like spoiling ATTWN by saying everyone on the island did a different crime.

Seems like another failed attempt to launch a franchise. I love Mcconaughey but something about him in the trailers seemed really forced.

I may have to watch the movie then go back to the books. I read the first couple, and lost interest once he started doing one book every 347 years instead of 1 per year or so.
