I just played this game the other day and of all the walking simulators I've played (Firewatch, The Stanley Parable, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, etc) I'd say this might be the best of all of them. Very touching and effecting in a way I'm not quite sure ow to describe. It has a very distinct feel to it. Very magical realism. Reminds me a bit of Big Fish in that sense.

BASIC PLOT:
Edith Finch, the last member of a cursed family, tries to learn the truth about her family, and explores the family mansion in search of information. Along the way, she discovers stories about nearly every member of the family, and the stories all have one thing in common: each one is the story of how a character died.

Really cool framing devices, which each story being told in a different way. A journal, a letter, a series of photographs, each scene placing you behind the lens, or something altogether different. Some are somber, some are cheesy and over the top (in a good way). Some are imaginative. Some are heartbreaking, and at least one... I dunno exactly how to describe the feeling that one gave me.


Controller is strongly required, but I used my keyboard and mouse and it was fine really. PS4 version is having some issues but PC runs like a dream

I don't know if Gregory or Lewis stuck with me more. Both of those were amazingly done

Downside is it's only 2 hours. Upside is it's damn good.

If you aren't up to watch a dozen ish people die, though, most of them never reaching adulthood, it might not be the story you want

I hate children, this sounds like a perfect game for me

It has a strong sense of foreboding and some creepy elements but it's not outright horror. The closest to horror it gets is still pretty OUT THERE. No jump scares or anything.

The worst/most gruesome deaths are actually told in the most WHIMSICAL ways. It still has some unsettling scenes but the most unsettling is stuff we don't see and us only implied

Hm...I still haven't finished Firewatch. Aside from the nice visuals, I'm not sure I'm super into it.

Honestly yeah theprice is a little high. I was going to refund it if it gave me any performance issues at all and wait for the sale or watch a playthrough, but it didn't so I played it and it was a good story.

(It didn't run on my laptop but desktop was fine)

You could and you wouldn't miss that much, but it does some cool things with the controls at various points. It's more than just walking around and listening to old audio. Some stories are fine without it, but for others controlling the action adds a lot of impact even if it's a foregone conclusion (or usually because it's a forgone conclusion).

It's fine to watch but it's definitely more IMMERSIVE to play
