Followed my third annual tradition of watching the finale despite giving up on the season partway through (:
What a CLUNKY firefight! It was so awkward. There was one point where a couple of garbage people came running straight at Carol while her back was turned, their guns stretched out right at her, but then Carol just turned around and easily popped them. .......what?? What were those people doing?? How did every named character (on both sides) escape close quarter all out gunfire? So goofy. The show always struggled with that but its gotten much worse
And then suddenly everything is over and Negan has Carl and there's no more gunfire whatsoever despite a bunch of other characters around Alexandria running around. Then Negan delays and delays just in time for both Hilltop and The Kingdom to show up at once. So cliche
I did love Shiva pouncing though. I wish she killed some Savior fuck who we had hated all season
I also liked the ending montage enough, specifically that it focused on Glenn. It was a nice way to wrap up his death that kicked the season off. That music sounded like they took the amazing emotional track from Lost and gave it to their composer and said RECREATE THIS tho
Should I bother going back and watching this season? I rly wanna enjoy the show again but its gotten very hard to. I just skim episode recaps online and watch some clips of big moments here and there, but if this season is worthwhile I'll catch up

Not really. Nothing really jumped out as a great episode. The finale was fine. I agree the fire fight was pretty lame. I did like the twist on the Sasha zombie thing. As well as Eugene's situation is pretty interesting. I am glad the storyline will extend into next season.

I love Eugene's new "final boss' henchman" look. It fits him perfectly. The trash people are so, so very bad that they have tainted everything. They are the most superfluous pieces of shit the show has ever seen. As seen at the end, Negan has no less than 8,284 men in his army. We didn't need these idiots shoehorned into the mix for the most obvious surprise betrayal of all time. And it's been said by everyone that has watched the show but what is the fucking deal with them regressing to talking like they do only 2 years into a zombie apocalypse.
But yeah. I remember there being one or two good episodes (Eugene's solo episode comes to mind), but I couldn't tell you if they were from the first or second half of this season. As a whole it was very terribly paced. Which, to be fair, has been their thing for a long time now.

The zombified Sasha surprised me and I did react as the show runners probably wanted us to. lol Same as when Shiva sprang into action. Really curious how the tiger a) didn't get shot at/killed b) knew who was friend and who was foe? lol
I was hoping that someone other than Sasha would bite it as well, but Michonne came pretty close I guess.
Also, those stupid dirty garbage people!

lol I was thinking the same thing about Shiva. Running around knowing exactly who to attack. Someone must've clued her in that the garbage people were bad now and safe to take some fangs (:
The suspension of disbelief they need from you is just too much at times. Look at the background actors when the shooting breaks out. What on earth is going on back there?
I will say King Ezekiel was great, monologuing through the battlefield

Like WHAT exactly is happening here
Carol and Ezekiel are shooting 'south'. Then they turn north and Saviors are there who can easily have shot them in the back but then they just get gunned down, then Carol and Ezekiel turn back south and two people are running up to them with guns but aren't shooting, so then they get gunned down
Huh????
Watch it a few times, it's so baffling and stupid. It was just such a terribly choreographed episode and the amount of plot armor was unreal

And this guy, beside all of the good guys and they're all facing the same way. He's also facing Rick since we see Rick pop into frame a second later, but he wasn't shooting at Rick

I give the two they turn around and shoot partial credit, it looks like one of them gets a shot off after hesitating for five minutes until they were noticed. But the ones that run up after that... I guess they were the only two Saviors or Dumpster Flies that specialize in CQC.

Legit looks like Morgan is a bad guy in this shot, and dude was shooting at whatever Rick was. They bungle all of this, but then throw in some callback from many episodes ago with the little wooden statue thing Daryl finds and dust their hands off like "nailed it".

I agree so much. I fucking hate everytime there is a "war" in this show. The prison war was exactly the same. What should have been a bloodbath ended in... Julio the Mechanic dying.
Why the FUCK are people like Tobin, Scott and Francine STILL ALIVE?! Literally every single character with a name from Alexandria survived that. Why? Why should I buy into the garbage people being a threat whatsoever if they cannot kill a single person they have held AT CLOSE RANGE GUNPOINT?
The whole episode was a waste of time and probably the lamest finale this show has had. Sasha is not a character to build an entire episode's death around.
Curtis, as far as the season went, I wasn't too impressed. This show has gone from must-watch for me to background noise. It just fails to hold my attention anymore. There's too much shit going on, way way way way too many characters that need to die and none of it is very interesting to me. |

Thank you! I didn't love Sasha! But, loved how she went out. Except of course that she also failed in killing Negan, but of course she already failed at this earlier. As with Rosita.

Was it really Shiva? I thought it was Sheba. Oh well. I hated the Sasha/Abraham stuff, waste of my time. And it was so obvious those dumpster people were assholes. It was kind of lame but I also screamed twice lol.

I didn't even know who any of these characters were without looking them up. And even then, only Scott because of how prominently he was featured in last night's Yakety Sax gunfight. Risking accidental racism if that isn't even the same guy.

And seriously tho... how long were Sasha and Abraham together? They sold it like it was the truest love of the ages from Season 1 until now. I feel like last night's episode had them sharing more screen time than they did in the rest of the series.
