In the year 2286, the previously fabled dream of time travel has finally become a reality. A group of researchers calling themselves the Arcana Organization are perfecting time-bending mechanisms that will allow humans to travel up to millions of years back in time in order to investigate some of the greatest and most pervasive historical mysteries to have plagued humankind. Being launched into the unknown with no guarantee of ever returning is not a prospect many are able to cope with, but the researchers know there are some out there who are crazy and curious enough to seek out the experience. As a result, the Arcana Organization are conducting preparatory "test runs" on the brave souls who wish to be considered for captaincy of the dangerous time-hopping missions.
The first Arcana expedition is set to explore the mystery of the Mary Celeste, one of the most well-known “ghost ships” in recorded history. In October 1872, the ship left a New York City bound for Genoa and loaded with a cargo of denatured alcohol, and it was discovered in December 1872 deserted off the coast of Portugal. The ship was found in reasonable order with its cargo, the belongings of its crewmen, and a six-month supply of food and water intact, but there was no sign of human life.
Theories over the years have covered extensive ground – whispers of mutiny, pirates, whirlpools, ordered abandonment and even sea monsters have been exchanged, but no solid answer has ever been provided as to what fate befell the ten people who set sail with the ship, never to be heard from again. Are you bold enough to traverse the sands (and seas) of time and look deeper into the secrets of the Mary Celeste?
Applications for the first Arcana test run are now open and will close on 09-15-2016 at 11:59pm EST. The application form can be accessed below.
