That ending, Jesus. Didn't see that coming!
Surprised you were bored after that Justin. That reeled me in. Good start! |

I love the flashforward narrative structure. I've never seen Damages so this is very much new to me. I think this show checks off a lot of things I personally like about television (and binge watching), but whenever things are slow and become a little boring- they take it straight to 100.
I have never gone from loving a character to hating one so much in the course of a season.
No spoilers, but a spoilery opinion:
|
It is quite possible that I hate Danny more than any other TV villain I've encountered. Sometimes I have to pause the show because I'm overwhelmed by how disgusting and deluded he is. Brilliant writing and acting. |

Episode 4 was great
|
It's so nice seeing Danny and everyone getting along and I love scenes of Danny doing well with the visitors at the resort and stuff, it's heartwarming. But obviously it's not gonna last and whenever stuff blows up it's brutal to watch, like the end of the episode between Danny and the father
The flashforwards + flashbacks/memories work really well too. I love the glimpses of the memories that we get, how they keep expanding on each other and you learn more and more about why the family is the way that it is |

I was really turned off by this method of storytelling at first, but it honestly forced me to watch the show for the current moments between the characters and I enjoyed it much more. I think sometimes I get to gripped into the plot that I don't pay attention to the subtleties. |

Jesus, that ending. THE ANXIETY
I loved the scene when he gets back on the bus and talks to 'Sarah' again |

This builds like a season of Breaking Bad/The Wire. The payoff is excellent
The road to the end is not nearly as slow as some reviews suggested either, I completely disagree with that | |

watched Part 1
|
It was pretty good. It definitely was veryyy slow though. And the dialogue was definitely a bit iffy at times. But I liked it enough that I'll keep watching. Especially after that ending. I was thinking to myself for a while is this really all the show's gonna be about, just an outcast brother wanting to get back into the family job? Seemed like more of a 2-hour movie than a 13 hour series. But that ending flipped everything on its head |
