Anyone else playing this besides me and Boc? Figure I throw up a thread since I'm now officially not the only one. For those of you in TWD withdrawals, this is a good alternative.
This is a Telltale game in the same exact format and art style as The Walking Dead Game. The story changes based off the decisions you make in dialogue and quick-action sequences. You play as the Big Bad Wolf as a detective in a town filled with characters from various stories, fables and nursery rhymes. Not usually my type of game, but it's pretty cool how dark, gritty and gory it is considering the subject matter. And it's still classic Telltale by fucking with your mind. Not quite as depressing as TWD... mercifully. But it definitely fucks with you.
I'm about to download and play Episode 3 in a minute. Choices so far:
|
- I gave money to Faith
- I stayed neutral with Beauty and Beast
- I went to help Toad before the Prince
- I didn't prevent Prince Lawrence's death... there's no statistic for this so I'm not sure if that's actually a "choice"
- I suspected the Tweedles, more or less out of rage cause I hate them.
- I arrested Tweedle Dee over the Woodsman |
|
- I sympathized with Crane
- I beat ever loving shit out of Dee in the interrogation room. No regrets.
- I let Snow make her own decision
- I didn't hit Georgie
- I didn't hit Beast more than once |
|
Kinda like Boc said in the GYRP thread, I've been a gigantic dick to everyone so far just because I feel more powerful being both a strong character and an authority figure. Snow has endeared me in a way though so when it comes to her, I've been leaning towards the softer side. Her constantly berating me for being so violent to Dee is probably what made me go soft for Georgie Porgie and Beast. |

Was actually thinking about playing Episode 2 tonight! tbh I thought the first episode was stronger than TWD's first, though I definitely don't expect the series as a whole to top that. I really like the action stuff in this, it's a lot smoother than TWD (though it looks like they carried a lot of this over to TWD S2). The chase scenes through the buildings where you're jumping through windows and shit are a ton of fun
|
I made all those same choices except I lied for Beauty and I suspected the PIMP. Although after the ending I'm starting to think it might be this mysterious Bluebeard fellow
And I also took almost all of the violent choices (: I punched Tweedledee in the face, I smashed a whisky glass over the Woodsman's head after his intimate confession, and I tore that fucker Grendel's arm off.
Which as I said before is weird because in TWD I made magnanimous choices for the most part. I think the extra POWER gets to my HEAD!!
Probably my most dastardly choice though was refusing to give the pig a drink of water, twice. He let me know how much he hates me before slinking off in defeat |

Holy fuck. Just finished 3 and I would say it's definitely on TWD's level at this point.
|
I vowed to try to be a little bit more passive in this episode after getting yelled at so much for the violent interrogation. lolnope.
- I let Snow finish the eulogy. Saw really no reason to interrupt it and make Gren/Holly even more pissed at me.
- I investigated the Trip Trap Bar first as I figured that'd lead me right to the witch through Lily's belongings.
- I offered Flycatcher a job for the hell of it. I was a bit of a dick to him though. 96 fucking percent of people did this, that's the biggest landslide for any choice in a Telltale game I've ever seen. Wut.
Now where I go into asshole mode...
- Burned the fuck out of Greenleaf's tree. Yeah, she gave me the location but after what happened with Bluebeard, I didn't want to just find that it was a ruse and then Greenleaf does something terrible with that tree that I could have prevented. Besides, what she was doing was illegal and causing a bunch of shit for the town anyway. Tree had to go and the 80% that kept it are pussies.
- I fucking tore Tweedle Dum's throat out and I have no god damned regrets over it. Fuck that guy and fuck the Tweedle's. I know when I did it was the bad decision and it's definitely going to come back to haunt me. But whatever. I hate them and have since the first episode. Can't wait to kill that stupid bitch that shot me.
The lack of Mr. Toad in this episode kind of saddened me but other than that, the best episode to date. |

Oh god I just found out Dave Fennoy is playing Bluebeard, I knew he sounded familiar. Funny he's playing such an asshole after winning everyone's hearts over as Lee. |

- Sympathized with Crane
- Beat up Dee
- Let Snow maker her own decision
- Hit Georgie
- Relented on Beast
SNOW! SHE'S BACK!!! I'm glad. The game felt a little empty in the short time without her
And that ending was...unexpected. That opens up so many questions. I felt a bit UNEASY going against Ichabod at every turn but now I feel completely vindicated!
I stole all of Tweedledee's money and ended up giving it all to Ariel (or whatever she goes by in this) despite the cost only being $150. I felt bad later though because Beauty mentioned being in debt to the twins. I bet I would've been able to help her out if I hadn't have done that
Also, TJ being played by Clem's voice actor is RLY distracting (: I can't disassociate that voice from Clem at all. Apparently that actress uses her 'normal' voice to voice Beauty too
I feel like this was a lot shorter than the first? Or at least a ton more seemed to happen in that one |

- Did not interrupt Snow's eulogy. How could I do such a thing?
- Investigated the Tweedles' office first. Because I didn't want to let those fuckers out of my sight
- Offered Flycatcher a job. How could you not? The guy's so down on his luck he actually thought the Tweedles were nice guys
- Did not burn Greenleaf's tree. This was a really tough one for me. On one hand, all the trouble with the glamours is annoying but...she just sounded so sad!!! I did tell her I'd be back if she was feeding me bullshit though
- Killed the fuck out of Tweedledum. Didn't even hesitate. I'm surprised this was the minority decision? Fuck the consequences. He was SHOOTING at me! And he was a punk anyway
That was good! I think it was on-par with the first episode. This mystery keeps getting more and more tangled
I REALLY thought I was gonna die at the end there. That would've actually been really cool I think, the Big Bad Wolf sacrificing himself so that Snow can get away with Ichabod in tow. Then the rest of the season could make Snow the playable character ala Clem in TWD S2. I think that would've been great
lol'd @ "Gren won't remember this"
I told Holly "I'm doing this for Faith" right to her face. I really don't give a shit about some troll I never met, SORRY!! Faith was my girl. I think she was just as endearing as Snow in her short time
And I noticed an Oceanic Airlines advertisement on the taxi cab in the beginning. WUT! That was a pretty random easter egg
Also I still don't think this is on TWD's level really. It's fun in its own right, but I think the characters/emotions are a lot more real in TWD. But I guess that's kinda the point of that game, whereas this relies more heavily on the plot |

Damnit, I stopped after 1 because I wanted the chapters to get released. I might start them once more soon though >_> | I used to travel the universe, but settled for parks.

There will be five, but yeah they've been ridiculously slow with this one. I think the first chapter was released around Halloween. |

Finished Episode 4. That feels like it came out really quick. Anyway:
|
Not as good as last episode, but still interesting nonetheless. This one was very dialogue driven with not so much action aside from the pawn shop fight, but the story is unraveling and the big revelation of the Crooked Man was a great way to get pumped for the finale. Seems this one was mainly testing your morals and how well you could keep your word since you were making a LOT of promises to a lot of different people. I promised Colin and Toad both they didn't have to go to the farm, told Beauty not to worry about the Crooked Man, told Johann the same thing, told Narissa I would never mention her magic ribbon to anyone, and I'm probably forgetting a bunch more. I have a feeling that's going to bite me big time in the next episode or lead to someone's death, but I guess we'll see. I know I really should be HARSHER seeing as I'm the sheriff and all. But I've gotten very soft. I've warmed up to a lot of these characters over these past 4 episodes.
That opening scene where you pop your bone back in was fucking awful. I hate scenes like that. Clem stitching her wound in the first episode of TWD S2 gave me a similar reaction.
Decisions:
- Didn't send Colin to the farm. Surprised I was in the mass minority for that!
- I didn't try to take Nerissa's ribbon mainly cause I didn't think she'd let me anyway.
- I went to the Pawn Shop first as it seemed like a bigger lead.
- I didn't send Toad to the farm. In fact I specifically stole money from Crane's jacket in the previous segment so that when I ran into Toad again, I could give it to him. And that's exactly what I did. Toad's one of my favorite character's and his interactions with Bigby are priceless. Once again, I'm shocked I was in the minority for that!
- I lit a cigarette when the Crooked Man told me to sit down, just cause I figured that's something Bigby would do. |

- Did not send Colin to the farm. Even though I've always been an asshole toward him. Him STICKING up for me and going on about how we were BROS got through to me. I've gone SOFT!!
- Did not try to remove Nerissa's ribbon. I was scared something bad would happen if I did try to. I have a feeling she'll end up just like Faith/Lily but I'm gonna try my DAMNEDEST to make sure she doesn't!
- Went to Lucky Pawn first. It was the first lead brought up and I didn't really see a reason to go to the butcher shop first
- Did not send Toad to the farm. I don't really like Toad that much, and I even told him at the pawn shop that he's definitely getting sent to the farm. Buuut I found the money in Crane's pocket so I figured WHY NOT! That little hop he does after you give it to him made it all worth it
- Agreed to talk with Crooked Man. I wanna hear him out at least. I'm PISSED that it ended there though!
That's an interesting point about the promises KC. I didn't really think of that. I'm actually a bit paranoid about SNOW of all people now. Nerissa alluded to the fact that not all of my friends can be trusted, then asked that I not tell anyone about the ribbon, to which I responded I'd only tell Snow. And then when we were done talking, Snow said she had some BUSINESS to attend to. FISHY FISHY!
I'm wondering how the Queen factors into all this. I thought this episode would end with me taking in Crooked Man only to find out that even HE'S a patsy and the Queen is the real threat. I guess it could still happen next episode but that seems like it'd be a lot to wrap up |
