We're coming up on year FOUR!

What's your current work situation like in terms of WFH/hybrid etc. How has it changed since everything started?

management believes that "innovation" only happens when people come to the office

its caused me to be slightly more physically active with fitness classes and swimming but i dont feel anyone innovating anything

My job told us a year or two ago that our position is now officially fully remote. It wasn't at all pre-pandemic. It would probably be difficult for them to try to make everyone come back now but with the random seemingly coordinated country-wide push that's happened recently, I'm wondering if they'll try.

Full office, but we were full office even during the pandemic, just spread out to the other parts of the people where “less important (their words)” had their spots before they got moved to remote.

"So, uh, what are we saying here? If we save LA from a nuclear bomb, then you and I can get together for dinner and a movie?"

pretty much all of my dev friends have been called back into office at least a few days a week at this point, but I've been lucky enough that my company is still leaving it completely optional (and since no one else from my team chooses to go in, I don't either) and I don't see that changing

definitely pros and cons to it though. Obviously the flexibility + time/money savings is hard to beat, but there are times I miss going into the office and actually...talking face-to-face with coworkers, plus having the change of scenery and more work/life separation. OVERALL though I still prefer WFH

I can't say there's a single thing I miss. 100% benefit imo. Before I moved my office was in my bedroom and now I have a different room for it and it feels a lot healthier, to your point about work/life separation

i very much miss full WFH. 2020 was like my best year in terms of performance and its almost entirely bc i was so relaxed the whole time being at home and being able to play fall guys whilst attending daily meetings

I've worked from home 100% since covid. Occasionally have to go in for meetings maybe once per quarter.

I didn't realize everyone here had office jobs.

Edit: Remote office jobs.

the only problem with my current setup is both my work and leisure desks are in the same room, so there's days where I stop working and literally walk a couple feet and sit down at a different desk lol

While I probably teach an additional online class every other semester, I've been in-office the entire time, including during COVID. I was the only member of my department teaching in-person during the first year of COVID.

FYI: teaching to a zoom screen (with everyone's cameras off) is the most soul-sucking experience as a teacher. I absolutely hated it.
