doubt enough people still watch to justify individual episode threads

binged through this and it was...interesting! One clear standout episode I'd say

I applaud them for at least not leaning on the "...and they were in a computer the whole time!!" twist as much as previous seasons (although one ep did kinda have that still) but I feel like the conceit of the show is kinda lost after this season. Which is fine they're switching things up, but not exactly what I signed up for still a step up from S5 though

Joan Is Awful

not great! Fun concept but I found a lot of this obnoxious/unfunny. It did have two good lines though "mmm...is that...salt?" "I mean how do you think Cate Blanchett feels about this?" "Fuck her." I did like Michael Cera's bit / the ending in general also it's not worth getting caught up in finding "plotholes" with the technology in this show, but this episode in particular...c'mon. She literally could've solved this problem by just turning her phone off lol

Loch Henry	+
pretty good social commentary, solid execution, not much to say about this one. Nice to see Podrick pop up in something else. Only part that fell flat was the girlfriend's death which was some Looney Tunes shit. Honestly all they needed was a better THUD sound effect there and it would've been fine

Beyond the Sea	+
this one was extremely predictable and a bit clunky. It was fine I guess. Aaron Paul did great! Definitely thought Aaron Paul's character was getting abandoned in space at the end so that part did ~subvert my expectations~

Mazey Day

lol. It's weird that they labeled Demon 79 a "red mirror" episode but not this one, which was also clearly fantasy-based? I actually thought this one was pretty well done, I was rooting for Beetz' character and the other paparazzi guys were perfectly sleazy. But that ending...woof! I just don't get the point of it. If they wanted that ending of someone getting paparazzi'd as they kill themselves there's so many different ways they could've got there that would've been less...dumb. Also I feel like the commentary in this was really weak anyway, like what did it add besides "paparazzi bad"

Demon 79	+
definitely the standout for me, and also the one that technically wasn't even a Black Mirror ep at all! I thought it was v fun and the ending paid off well. So heartwarming that those two crazy kids found each other!

JiA took pretty obvious jabs at Netflix's business model. Not bad, not great. Some funny stuff in the episode with Hayek and Cera. LH another poke at Netflix's programming choices. Twist was a bit predictable, and the GFs death was goofy. Overall a solid one. BtS: outcome was a bit predictable after a little while. But it did made me feel the familiar "damn this is fucked up" like older seasons Overall enjoying the new season so far.

I didn’t like the end twist with Michael Cera during the episode but I thought it was kind of clever, I wonder who was playing Joan in Cate Blanchett world. Kind of a little scary because I also never read the terms and conditions.

I thought this one was pretty good as a short movie but was less Black Mirrory than most as I don’t think there was really anything unrealistic about it. Podrick was great, funny character. I wish the mom seemed creeper or there was like a bigger reveal as to why. She was definitely a little weird but idk it felt a little hollow. So did Pia’s death. As Boc said at least make the trip more obvious. The streamberry nod at the end was nice. I wonder if it’ll be in all episodes

I enjoyed the idea behind the technology, the idea that the world had home would be against but not sure I loved the rest of the story. I will say I did expected David to try to replace Cliff and fire him off in to space. I guess the downside to that is if he doesn’t pull it off Lana might destroy the equipment and the ship needing two people makes it impossible for him to return. I don’t know even after all he’s been through I didn’t find it believable that he’d kill them. Average episode. I think I’d have it second behind JiA so far.
