I can’t believe I haven’t made this poll yet, my friends and I argue this constantly because one of them won’t drop it
Which would you rather have to fight?
A: A great white shark in the middle of open ocean
B: A grizzly bear in the middle of deep woods
Each beast is aggressively trying to find you and kill you, we’re ignoring the fact that maybe they’re just territorial or curious and all that, let’s say you pissed them off somehow
In both scenarios you’re obviously fucked, but you aren’t choosing the one you think would be a faster/better death, you’re choosing the one that you think you might have the slightest chance of survival
Which one would you rather try to survive against and why?

Anyone see that video from last week of the tiger shark eating the dude alive? That's gotta be the most helpless situation in the world. Outside of comparing which would be more likely to just stop and leave you alone, which probably isn't even in the spirit of this, I think I'd take the bear because you at least are more within your own skillset as a human in the woods. You can fight and climb etc. Treading water in the shark's domain is comparable to running in a dream. There is no escape from that. Give me the bear

Not implying being mauled by a grizzly sounds enjoyable or ez. Just marginally better odds by the way I see it

You’re treading water in open ocean

And vs the bear you’re in the deep woods
No boat nearby in the ocean, no cabin nearby in the woods. Rescue will come eventually if you were to survive either ordeal

Grizzly Bear without question.
It's stilll absolutely hopeless but least I'd be on land and I'd be able to see it coming. There's no home field advantage with a Grizzly.
If you're dealing with a shark, you're in its domain. Sharks are like death machines that pop up at any time while you have to focus on treading water so that you don't drown. Then BAM your leg's gone.

Bear
Not fond of fleeing from a murder machine underwater.
There's a reason there are more shark movies than bear movies

also bear.
You can run. You can climb. You can try to fend it off (or worse) with a broken branch or a rock or something. With a shark, you're pretty much dead in the water. lol

bear for sure
polar bear would be a tougher choice but still would have to go with the bear, something about being mauled in the ocean sounds worse than being mauled on land, probably because you're adding drowning to the mix too
