Hello pals. Bad news! A massive Imgur purge is upon us. They announced that they'll begin deleting old posts in waves that were uploaded by users who weren't signed into an account. That's uhh...every image I've ever uploaded! So that's not good

Photobucket did this years ago and it destroyed a ton of ORGs and made them very ugly, just broken links everywhere. The first half of SI is still a graveyard because of it

I thiiiink (and hope) that it works by deleting images that haven't been 'seen' in a very long time, so my hope is that FE will be relatively safe...but I kinda doubt it. If we're out of luck then so many things will be effected. Forum icons, post ranks, skin images, banners, memes, every image used in any one of our games (off site and on), etc. Imagine ATTWS or Labyrinth or anything else with no avatars and absolutely none of the graphics. Brutal!

This is happening in...two days. Not great! I know ORG hosts are panicking and starting to save all their old images so they can eventually reupload them under an Imgur account. I might try to find the time to preserve as many FE images as I can but that's a pretty big undertaking. I don't plan on reuploading right away just in case we aren't even hit, but I might save them to my desktop at the very least

If any of you have your own games here or elsewhere and feel the need to do that then this is just a heads up. And if anyone can think of something in particular on FE that should be top priority for being preserved then lemme know

It might start with images uploaded like 10 years ago. So probably!

I usually save things on imgur. I'll see if there's anything I uploaded on there that I deleted.

And yeah Imgur bad.

I already hate them for how hard it is to upload using mobile phone.

I was hoping Imgur would never go down this route like photobucket did but that was optimistic

I know things can't last forever and I sure haven't paid a dime towards imgur for anything but I hate how easy it is for these companies to just toss away something that is internet history for someone else.

They own the storage so they can do what they want with it
