RAVE first reviews. I remember people saying almost identical things about the first one tho so my expectations are definitely still in check. Sounds like it'll at least be another great theater ~experience~ tho
it was exactly as I expected! Maybe even exceed expectations a bit, I liked it better than the first (although it's literally been 13 years so my memory is a bit FOGGY on that one at this point)
The sequences of the characters just interacting with their environment were beautiful and I wouldn't have really minded if the whole 3 hours was just that lol
The conflict had its moments (although the in-fighting was way more interesting than the human vs Na'vi stuff) but went on like 20-30 minutes too long

I can't believe they're bringing back the Colonel for the THIRD TIME. Could be a redemption arc in store for him at this point (I really can't imagine they'd be dumb enough to have him be the main baddie AGAIN) but either way I'm so done with that character. Honestly he (and the other 'evil humans') in this movie would've been way better if they had made them more ruthless, it was actually laughable how they were more pacifistic in some circumstances than the Na'vi. Best example was when he had BOTH daughters captured at the end and Jake is casually ripping through all of his men, you'd think he'd kill one of the daughters to show him he means business but nahhh. Gotta keep both alive for...reasons. Neytiri seemed much more ready to kill Spider than the humans ever did with their hostages! I don't blame Jake for not taking the threat of his families' lives seriously at all, why should he
also if Jake realizes at the end that there's no point in running and he needs to keep fighting, couldn't he just join back with his original family in the forest? I don't get that, although the real reason is probably just that Cameron wants to keep filming water scenes which, fair enough
When they went into the sea for the first time I couldn't stop thinking about James Cameron in his little submarine having a blast.
This was just about exactly as I expected and I was fine with it. JC could just cancel the rest of the movies and do an Attenborough style movie in that universe and I'd eat that shit up and ask for seconds.
My oldest and I watched the first one last night. We both loved it. I hadn't seen it before. What a beautiful story and the graphics were amazing.
We watched the sequel today and we both thought the fist was a lot better. The movie was visually stunning as expected. But you really felt that 3 hour run time and they could have easily killed 30 minutes of run time.
It reminded me of the Rian Johnson Star Wars movies though. It really was a rehash of the fist, just told differently.

I thought they killed off the wrong character. The mom should have been the one to go, and not the eldest son. Spider should have let the Colonel die. I really don't want to see him a 3rd time. Maybe they change his arc and he changes sides against a new foe? Probably not.
