Malion sidled away from the group, intent on finishing up some... business. He edged furtively away from the group of panicking residents, who were staring, vulture-like, at Jen's battered corpse.

Things weren't going exactly according to plan, but he was confident that the little surprise package he'd prepared would be more than adequate to get things started here. There was nothing to be gained from further observation, he'd already learned everything he needed to know. Might as well get back to the safety of his apartment...

Malion eased the stairwell door open, checked to make sure that he hadn't been spotted, and darted quickly up the steps. Up and up and up, until he reached the top floor. Perhaps he should have glanced downwards. Nah, he told himself. He wasn't being followed. He would have noticed.

Now, to seal himself in, and wait for the quarantine to be lifted.

He slipped into the apartment, and noticed right away that something was wrong. Some things had been moved. Not much, but enough that he couldn't possibly have been mistaken. Someone had been here. Someone knew what was happening.

There was a click. Malion turned, and barely had time to cry out, "OH FU-" before a few bullets sent his face showering across the room.

Malion, AKA The Man From Boston, Third Party Bio-Terrorist, has been killed.

Flavour: You’re a member of an international syndicate who develop bio-chemical weapons to control and alter the balance of world power. You’ve just perfected a virulent strain of a rabies-like infection that could slaughter millions and cripple any nation in the world. Unfortunately, it would appear that the CDC has caught onto you, and they locked down the building before you could escape. Oh well, might as well field-test the virus before it goes to waste...

Ability: All scans will list you as a vanilla townie. On night one, you may choose to infect one player of your choice. That player will contract the virus.

The muffled gunshots echoed down the stairwell. They were quiet, but still quite audible to the people gathered in the lobby. People began screaming, shoving their way away from the open door.

"Stay calm, everyone!" demanded Patrick. "I'm a police officer."

"You too?" asked Curtis.

"Is anybody here not a police officer?" asked Jeff.

Ignoring them, Patrick drew his gun, and headed for the stairs. He absently rubbed his neck, where a mosquito had bitten him a few minutes ago. He made his way up to the second floor, and was about to head for the third, when a flash of motion caught his eye. He headed down the hallway, shouting for the person to freeze.

They didn't, ducking into an open doorway.

Patrick charged after them. Unexpectedly, the figure burst out of the doorway. Patrick brought his gun up to fire, but not quickly enough. A scalpel sliced through his throat.

Patrick slumped to the floor, bleeding out. The figure knelt and took his gun. Then it walked away.

Patrick, AKA Danny, Town Police Officer, has been killed.

Alignment: Town

Role: Cop

Flavour: You answered a call about a domestic disturbance in the apartment complex, next thing you know, you’re locked in and the feds are saying something about a quarantine. Wonderful. You know a thing or two about how the CDC operates, and you’re pretty sure they’re not gonna let you outta here alive. You’d better figure out who they are, and fast, or this whole place is gonna go up.

Ability: Once per night you may scan another player. You will be told their alignment only.

Win Condition: You win when all CDC players are dead.

Well thats interesting! Unfortunately this doesnt explain what the virus is... but at least it was contained quickly enough. It sounds like something that does not immediately kill. Perhaps its what got Patrick in the end. I think this cooroborates with Ari's story pretty well, but we can always lynch him to be sure, since Patrick was actually a cop after all (:

I found it weird how willingly people bought Ari's story on D2. I mean it was a pretty well thought-out alibi but 9 times out of 10 people would go along with what the cop had to say (Patrick didn't outright claim but it was PRETTY obvious).

I don't know if I buy his claim yet. I guess bussing could've occurred but the chances of that aren't exceedingly high. He could still be a third party that has a psychiatrist-type role...not incredibly likely but possible.

My flavour is something like: I am a government agent whos been following a group of bio-terrorists who are going to attack the US. The main guy (man from boston) has unleashed the virus in this apartment complex. So thats why I am here to stop the contagion and the fate of the world is in my hands!

So im thinking Mal has obviously infected someone, dont worry poor soul im here to heal you! I wonder what the virus does!

I feel like the virus either kills them a day or two later or something, or turns them anti-town. Which is more like the movie. They'd turn infected and probably make up a cult type group, but probably without knowing who the rest are? Since Ari can turn them back. Or maybe Ari can only heal them before the infection spreads completely or something. I DUNNO!

So Patrick scanned Ari and was told that Ari was not town aligned. Ari's story seems to be checking out so far so I'm thinking there was a bus driver or redirector or something

Patrick didnt claim cop, but he didnt really explain his 3rd party theory much, either. The flavor he described did not necessarily fit 3rd party, just someone from outside of the building. I feel like the firefighter-esque claim made sense, even if Ari's interruptation of what he was opposing did not. If he had chosen to claim the exact role he opposes, the real firefighter-type would have probably either called bullshit or targetted him. And now Malion the terrorist is dead, it seems like Ari is more or less confirmed... ish

It seems bold for the mafia or SK to kill Pat even if he is the likely target for a doc to protect that night unless there is a bus driver or the doc got roleblocked or some crazy magic involved.

but an unstoppable kill seems to be a little overpowered. :/

Mafia sometimes have a strongman they can send out for the kill who will kill right through any protection. Or they have a bus driver and did the swap the actual target with a shitty target thing instead.
