Still good but I was really hyped. Loved Edgar Wright and him doing a horror movie sounded great to me. Ironically enough it was the horror aspect that I hated most! I loved the old school stuff with Anya and I would've preferred a movie just about that in that era tbh. Didn't like Thomasins character very much and the second half of the movie was so bogged down by repetitive scenes of the rapey faceless ghouls running around after her. Twist was also obv unfortunately
First half had enough going for it for me to still give it a 7 but its definitely towards the bottom of Wrights movies for me
BAD! I saw this a few weeks ago and I sat with it for a while because some of it WAS really good, but overall, I think the ending just kind of let me down. I agree with you Curt that the horror parts turned out to be the worst parts of the movie and I just wasn't really invested in the modern girl's storyline. I thought it was a cute concept but Anya's character was MUCH more captivating, they should have focused on her.
The ending was just.. a weird twist, I guess. It could have worked but having us try to sympathize with the dead men in the last minute to justify killing the old lady was just.. idk! Felt like it was written by a man because it just kind of backtracked over everything the movie was telling us to root for. OH WELL!
