Hello! Welcome to my latest Letterboxd challenge. This one has been a LONGGGG time coming. I wanna try to watch every Best Picture winner

Disclaimer one, I don't put a lot of stock in the Oscars and understand the kinda trash reasons why the choose a lot of their best picture winners, but I still think it'd be nice to check them all off anyway. Disclaimer two, this'll take me ages. I have no interest in binging through these or making them all the next movies that I watch. It wont be like my Horror Subgenres thing where I give myself a deadline. Ill just be choosing one and knocking it out whenever I feel like it which will be very slowly. Best picture winners are long as fuck

Here's a nifty chart I found

Posted Image

Typically p long! That combined with the age of the ones I haven't seen combined with the fact that I don't even have an immediate interest in a lot of them means that this will feel like a slog for me. But I intend to do it. Slowly!

As of right now, Ive seen 36 of them. There are 93. Ive got 57 to go through. Here they are

Wings
The Broadway Melody
All Quiet on the Western Front
Cimarron
Grand Hotel
Cavalcade
It Happened One Night
Mutiny on the Bounty
The Great Ziegfeld
The Life of Emile Zola
You Can't Take It with You
Gone with the Wind
How Green Was My Valley
Mrs. Miniver
Going My Way
The Lost Weekend
The Best Years of Our Lives
Gentleman's Agreement
Hamlet
All the King's Men
All About Eve
An American in Paris
The Greatest Show on Earth
From Here to Eternity
On the Waterfront
Marty
Around the World in Eighty Days
Gigi
The Apartment
West Side Story
Tom Jones
My Fair Lady
The Sound of Music
A Man for All Seasons
In the Heat of the Night
Oliver!
Midnight Cowboy
The Sting
The Godfather: Part II
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
Kramer vs. Kramer
Ordinary People
Chariots of Fire
Gandhi
Terms of Endearment
Amadeus
Out of Africa
The Last Emperor
Driving Miss Daisy
Dances with Wolves
Braveheart
The English Patient
Shakespeare in Love
Chicago
Million Dollar Baby
Crash
The King's Speech

A lot! In the time that I started slowly committing to this I've watched Patton, Rebecca, and Rain Man. I plan to rewatch The Godfather before I finally watch pt II because I remember veryyy little about it since I saw it ages ago

https://letterboxd.com/curtislost23/list/best-picture-winners-ranked/

Here's my current rank of the ones that I've seen. I move these around all the time honestly, I find them pretty hard to rank. Its especially tough since I've got some classics like Godfather, Silence of the Lambs, Rocky etc that I haven't seen since I was a kid. I'm sure if and when I rewatch them they'll be slotted up higher

I don't really plan on reviewing each movie in this thread or talking about what I think should've won that year or any of that. I'm not about to do that with movies from ONE HUNDRED YEARS AGO during times that I don't know shit about. Ill just use this thread to check them off the list and slot them into my rankings

Okay happy trails wish me luck

Just the first one! Every time I wanna finally watch the second one I decide to wait so I can rewatch the first and then I just never get around to it

I have seen the first two films 2-3 times, they are legendary films!

I didn't watch the third film until recently, summer last year actually. It took me a while.

I literally did this about a month or so back finally. Totally worth watching back-to-back.
