My older brother is John Paul (two family names) and they were annoyed that everyone always shortens or nicknames his name (funnily enough he goes by JP to everyone outside of our immediate family). So they picked Brian to discourage nicknames. One of my uncle johns consistently tries to make bri-guy a thing, but it doesn't happen. Middle name Thomas for my grandpa.

But the fun part is that my dad tried really hard to get one of us to be named Ola Aloysius (my great grandfather). That was a hard no from my mom.
