saw this tonight

I liked it but didn't love it like I thought I would

the main thing that annoyed me was how contrived every situation in the movie seemed to be. Everything felt so CONVENIENT just to set up the next set piece. One of the main things I was wondering about is WHY are they having another baby in this world?? That should've killed them for sure, it seemed really far-fetched that it cried as little as it did, especially considering it was in the same room as a horrific monster half the time I think a lot could've been fixed/improved by making this a movie about some kind of QUEST/goal that was trying to be achieved rather than it just being the family running around the farm. It would've given way more of an organic reason for those kinds of situations to arise. Kind of like a Cloverfield situation. Or even something smaller scale like Metalhead (: THAT ASIDE there were definitely some effective scenes. The opening with the rocket ship, the whole birthing sequence (especially that fucking nail part, jesus), and the Dad's death were all really well done Also that ending, c'mon. I don't know if we're supposed to believe they'll actually be able to fend them all off?? There were DOZENS on the way!

F9 got pushed back an entire year in reaction to that problem. And some of the blockbusters that were already scheduled for later this year will probably get pushed to 2021 because of that new competition, but they have a while to make that decision. I mean Mulan was supposed to come out in two weeks and Disney just now made the decision to delay it

Or they catch it later at home, but the first one is maybe the best movie theater experience I’ve ever had. I’d hate watching this at home for the first time

weirdly I had one of the only bad experiences I've ever had at my theater cuz there was a bunch of teenagers in the front who were giggling at EVERYTHING that happened (even the death in the beginning). It SUCKED!! Possibly part of the reason why I wasn't as high on it as most

I'd much rather watch this one in my home theater where I can be ensured that nothing will fuck it up. Since it's probably the easiest movie to ruin like that

I just love this ongoing cycle of that movie being pushed back indefinitely. I hope it happens at least a couple more times

it was okay. It really felt like more of a long TV episode than an actual movie

I wasn't nearly as high on the first as a lot of people tho so if you liked that one you'll probably like this one too. It hits a lot of the same notes
