I saw this a couple days ago in the theater. Everyone I went with hated it, and were visibly bored whenever I looked over at them making their audible yawns and checking the time on their phones. The only other people in the theater were in the row ahead of us and two of the women were on their phones, bright white screens shining, as they scrolled through facebook for over an hour as soon as the movie began, one of them even taking a call and talking to someone for 20 minutes of it right there in their seat.
Probably decreased the experience, but I found it visually stunning in the theater. I don't know if vignettes is the right word, but lots of scenes/settings that are commenting on one another while not really following a typical stories structure. There's a uniqueness to it all. It's saying things without beating you over the head, but some people might prefer to be beaten over the head. |
