My internal dialogue takes place in what I think my voice should sound like. So, when I actually hear a recording of myself I am sometimes caught off guard.

I hear the words in my head anytime I read, write, or think. On weekends, my internal voice spends most of its time saying things like "we should really go home now" or "no, you do not need another drink". In those situations I tend to ignore it.
