Finally saw it

Thought it was prettyyyyy darn good. All of it was incredibly impressive. Two months ago I thought it was supposed to be a legit one-shot movie so I was bummed to learn that it was just gonna be edited that way but I still thought it worked great. I'm a sucker for long takes. It didn't feel gimmicky or distracting to me at all. It definitely DID feel very much like a video game at times, like the way a video game cutscene will seamlessly transition into gameplay as you take control of the character
Shocked that the main kid died so soon, or at least who I thought was supposed to be the main kid. I ended up liking Schofield a lot though, I thought the actor did great. I get the lack of characterization complaint but it didn't bother me here like it did in Dunkirk. I thought this was far better than Dunkirk. Also I loved the Schofield family reveal at the end, that added so much weight
Boc posted somewhere that he wished they didn't spoil the money shot of him running across the battlefield - I agree. P lame that their ads focused so heavily on that. Still a great scene tho
Crossing no man's land, Schofield's near death, the plane crash scene, Schofield running through the town on fire - all great. They really fired on all cylinders here, the production was pretty fantastic. I think it's gonna do great at the Oscars |
