We did the Alligator River Story awhile back. NOW PRESENTING..........The Bread Thief Story



Once upon a time there was a man named Joseph who was too poor to provide for himself and his wife, Amelia. In a moment of weakness, Amelia stole a loaf of bread from a shopkeeper, Robin. Joseph was aware that she stole it.

The crime was witnessed by a drug addict named Charles. Robin, noticing that the bread was missing, suspected Joseph of the crime. Knowing that Charles was nearby at the time, Robin offered Charles his drug of choice as payment if he would confirm that Joseph did indeed steal the bread. Charles lied and confirmed that Joseph stole the bread. Robin provided him with his drug in return.

Joseph was sentenced to have his hand cleaved off for his supposed crime. Amelia's father, Gavin, knew that Amelia was guilty but urged her to keep quiet so that Joseph would have his hand cleaved off instead. Amelia obliged.

Joseph, enraged with Amelia for staying quiet, provided evidence to Robin that it was actually Amelia who stole from him. Robin then cleaved off Amelia's hand instead.

it's like an episode of What Would You Do? where halfway through a scenario, they switch one of the actor's genders to see if anyone reacts differently.

That's exactly what I did for the Alligator River story. That one had more to do with gender than this one tho

It's not meant to mean Robin took the law into his own hands and cut Amelia's hand off. There's a line about Joseph being sentenced to have his hand cut off because that's the penalty during whenever this time was. It's the same when Amelia is sentenced, Robin isn't just going rogue

You didn't say "then Amelia's hand was cut off" or "the authorities cleaved Amelia's hand off" but specifically "Robin cleaved Amelia's hand off". It doesn't matter that the law may have been on Robin's side in this or not: we have plenty of examples of folks who have used their lawful "authority " to get their jollies off. You don't think that New Jersey cop loved punching that woman on the beach? You don't think George Zimmerman loved shooting a black kid and getting away with it? Some of these cases are almost psychosexual- Freud would have had a field day. You wrote the text specifically to have Robin cut the hand off. Can't change it now because that changes the story. :P

What's funny is we have so many Robin guys out there, like Robin Williams, but even though the text says "he" people keep assuming it is a woman.

If your reading comprehension was as good as you claim you may have realized Dyl swapped the gender of everyone as a joke ;)
