All I'll say before my tag is that you should see it and you should DEFINITELY see it in theaters, not at home

I though it was great. Not as layered as recent horror movie favorites like Get Out of It Follows or Babadook but it knew what it was going for and nailed it. Doesn't feel gimmicky at all
The sound aspect is the real deal. This is one of the most MOVIE THEATER movies I can think of. Every. single. noise. in the theater will bother the shit out of you the entire time. You'll be so conscious of your chewing and your breathing, it's kinda nuts
Some really tense scenes. When her baby floated away and the thing was right over there, and then when it dipped under the water. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
And that nail scene, oof. The opening death was great and set the perfect tone for the movie but the trailers totally spoil it, that really bummed me out. Would've been a great shock otherwise
I'm sure all of us were thinking the same thing throughout the whole movie. "Why the SHIT would you have a baby????"
Everyone was good but Emily Blunt killed it, she's awesome. The daughter annoyed the shiiiiiiiiiiiiit outta me. Stomping her feet around the whole time. I honestly had very little sympathy. Like hey, your dad has been BUILDING YOU a hearing aid, just fucking try it god damnit. I really wish the audience didn't know that he made it himself. I wish the scene right after he died when she finally goes into his workshop and sees all the hearing aid manuals and demos that was the first time the audience realized he made it for her, that would've been a rly poignant moment
I knew from so early on that Krasinski would die in that fashion because of course that scene was gonna end up happening. Sorta wish they went against expectation there somehow but the scene was still really good. Like imagine if it was the dad with the newborn and both kids on one side, the mother alone on the other, and the monster between them. The baby starts crying and the monster starts running at them and the other knows she has to scream to save them and sacrifice herself. MAN OH MAN
The ending was fun, I expected a more cliche ending so this was nice
Great stuff. Krasinski killed it as a director, the movie looked great and he really showed a lot of skill. I hope he sticks in this genre
Our movie was at 6:30 and we went into the theater they told us to at like 6:10. We walk in and it's pitch black and people are already in there and the movie is already like halfway over. I saw one quick frame and realized something was fucked up so we left and realized they printed our ticket totally wrong. More people were coming in behind us so they got everyone's wrong
FLASHFOWARD. I get to the right theater and the movie has 5 minutes left. Two people walk in and sit down and crack open their candy. I quickly realized their ticket was ALSO fucked but they had no idea. They must've just thought they were a few minutes late to the movie but they were literally right in the finale. The movie ended and the credits rolled and they looked around so confused. They saw the LAST FIVE MINUTES. They started frantically checking their phone because they realized there was a big mistake with the ticket/times. Imagine that? I'd be pissed
I'm supposed to go see this Friday with someone but I feel like they will try to talk through the whole movie so I'm considering going at 2 PM to see it today in advance.
Man good luck to them if they try to. I can’t think of a worse movie to talk through, everyone would hear every single word
I saw it again last night. I think it's the first movie I've seen two times in theaters since.....Avatar?? That one I was dragged to the second time. I hated it both times!
This was just as good after a rewatch. If there's a movie to see twice in theaters then this is the one tbh, the immersion in the theater is too good. I had two teen girls sitting behind us who had seemingly never seen a suspenseful movie before in their lives and who definitely did not understand movie theater etiquette. They talked the entire time. Not whispered, TALKED! During THAT movie. They were so fucking obnoxious, I was annoyed for my friends who were seeing it for the first time
On my second watch the mystery of the burst pipe remains unsolved
That's a huge part of the fun. My friend was debating getting popcorn but I told him he had to get some. He took about two bites as it started and then hardly touched it, I absolutely wasted his money. It's so funny to hear someone take one chew and then sloooowly start to see if they can get away with a second crunch but it doesn't work at all
I have yet to find an explanation for the rushing water

It was definitely coming outta some burst pipes, that much I know. I thought maybe it happened after she stepped on the nail and used the eggtimer as a distraction. I thought the creature maybe knocked a pipe there and caused it...but I don't think that was where they ever were? That was in his workshop basement which I think was in the house. The burst pipe was on the ground floor of the barn and rushed into basement #2 which was beneath the barn. I think??
On rewatch I think I noticed that her laundry lines were above the rushing water. And she was doing laundry before she stepped on the nail, so maybe since she like...left that shit unattended it somehow led to it overflowing? I have no idea, I dunno how they were washing clothes but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. IT'S A MYSTERY!
What was interesting though, was that as I watching, I was thinking to myself, 'this is a movie that you see once and that's probably it', but both people I went with said they'd watch it again.
It's the first movie that I've got back to watch again in theaters in many many years ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Oh shit, I tried to make a mental note about that to ask my friend what happened with that pipe when it was over but forgot. You see it streaming when he runs out and then suddenly the whole place was just flooded.
It had to have happened while she was in the bathroom and the thing was stalking up the hallway before the fireworks went off. Maybe it excitedly punched through the wall and hit a pipe? I dunno. Good question though.
Yeah, but also how did the nail get there?

For a minute, I thought the daughter did it because the dad wouldn't let her go down there. Did everyone just know to avoid it, but because of the circumstances someone ended up stepping on it?
Blunt's laundry bag got caught on it earlier and she pulled the bag upwards and yanked it up without realizing it
