This was litrally terrible. LOL

And sadly not in the good way. To be fair, this was definiteyl NOT a horror movie... like at all. So I guess I fucked up p bad with this pick. It was more of a drama? I think? than anything and it got like really fucking weird and dark there at points.

I did kinda like the slow transition from Goria's drunk stupidity and craziness and Oscars kindness to them swapping spots in those categories. IT really felt more like a story of how the 'nice guy' is never actually a nice guy LOL. and does nice things for women and then expect them to like them, and when they dont they throw a fit and show their true colors.

It was kinda hard to watch ngl! But the premise of like, being a giant monster like that was... cool I guess. Would not recommend tho ! sorry Anne !

This was pretty good! I'm not too big on found footage kinda stuff? I think the like, scares or the tension is kinda just... idk, your anticipation of something jumping out at you as the camera guides your vision, ya know? But at least the story of this one was kinda cool. A haunted house gone wrong! I liked it. The characters were kinda meh, but overall I thought it was good, and I think if you are someone who is INTO found footage stuff you'd probably really like it!

Very fun tbh! An older movie so obv has the old vibe but I was pretty invested the whole time. Things got.. kinda weird when like someone would die and Betty would just like, go home LOL. Like that kinda didnt make sense.... BUT otherwise I really like it! I fucking LOVED that the whole movie is like this intense opera music, but then when someone died it was this very wild metal music LOL. I loved it so so so much. And then the END when the you-think-creepy director has a plan to find the maniac during the show... and the raven cage flops out and ur like.. what.. the.. fuck.... LFAO. BUT THE CROWS REMEMBER HIM AND PECK HIS EYES IT WAS FKN GENIUS? So good!

a nd thennnnn the little hint/twist at the end that maaaybe the girl is cray? We love it!

also fuck that neighbor lady who was rude as hell to her daughter. She shoulda got axed.

This was fine! Idk i've said it a few times and like, ghost/possession stuff always just feels THE SAME. But I will say some of the jump scare stuff were a LITTLE more unique here. The one coming to mind is the little daughter with the see through umbrella scenes, that was pretty cool. Otherwise just kinda ur typical shit I guess. we LOVE Linda Cardellini so thats always a plus, a queen <3 I wish at least one of the kids had died but WHATEVER. Overall just ok!

I feel like there isnt a TON of creepy kid movies? and the ones that I know of i've seen? so I took liberty in deciding that creepy dolls should count for this category!

this was like, idk, also fine! Another kinda possession ghost-y cult whatever vibe. Felt very chucky-esque with a psycho person dying and kinda sending their spirit into the doll which was cool I guess. I kinda hated the ending and wished that the mother jumped and killed herself not the poor nanny lady but OH WELL. The husband was hot too which was a plus. But idk, it wasnt bad or anything but also not like, special either?

Usually older movies I can hang... but for some reason I wasnt digging this one AS MUCH. I'm not realllly sure why either. I think because its fairly slow? and I think you all know by now I love a good ending and this ending was.... SO freakin lack luster. The movie overall is SUCH a good build up, its so good at making you think whats the REAL tea. The music is awesome and really gets you in the mood... but then at the end its like. Oh, she finally remembers whatshername saying something about flowers, finds a secret room... boom, they say she needs to die. Yikes! Scary! Now let me go in this room and stab an invisible witch and VOILA. I win! .... like c'mon! We can do better than that!

Other than that though like it waaaas ok. Like I said the music was great, the use of COLORS was fucking fantastic, and the few death scenes were.... not the worst! I personally loved when Sarah fell into the barbed wire pit... even if it was like... so fucking over dramatic LOL. I feel like all the signs should point to me hating that scene but I laughed and idk.

I think maybe I was just expecting more from an older 'classic' that people talk about, but oh wells, it wasnt garbo!

P.S. I just realized the same dude, Dario Argento, did the opera, which I just watched and that makes so much sense now seeing them both LOL. ok bye!

whewwww. The first half of this was INCREDIBLY difficult to watch. There were a few moments where I considered just shutting it off bc lordddd did I squirm, and not in the good way! The only thing keepin me going was the fact that I rpetty much was aware of the plot and KNEW damn well there was going to be pay back.

BOY was the pay back so satisfying. My personal favorite part was her fish hooking the dudes eyes and letting the crows fuck him up, but the dude over the tub was also pretty good. I WISH she fucked up the main dude that wasnt the sherrif more bc he fkn suckkkked. I understand the plot and i'm happy she got her revenge but I also just really hate these kinds of concepts I guess? Sorta? idk, I think it just makes me angry more than anything? But like, from strictly a horror standpoint it was good.

16. Bodies Bodies Bodies -- After watching it I feel like it can qualify as meta for hitting a ton of horror tropes while also clearly not taking itself seriously. More humor landed than I expected for an older person writing Gen Z lingo (a lot missed though) and I kinda just lost interest for a part of the movie. Solid ending (even though it was predictable) and still enjoyable (loved the color palette and lighting).

18. The Descent -- Still enjoyable but definitely underwhelming. The middle third of this movie was incredible but the last third reaaaaaaaally didn't do it for me.
19. Smile -- It Follows but campier and not nearly as technically good (some really nice cinematography in this though, just tough to beat how It Follows was shot). The film starts off as a metaphor and then they just kinda tell you what it is which I think robs it of some oomf. Was a weird mix of 2000s jump scare horror that wants to be an A24 film but falls short.

20. The Invitation

This was so beautifully terrible. Like, I dont think i'd actively recommend this to anyone but like... also... if I were still in my smoking dayz i'd DEF recommend this for the fun. And like, it wasnt really funny? But it was kinda that perfect blend of it like, genuinely being a serious movie, but it being bad its good... kinda? First off, I was expecting like, the phone to be the bad guy and do the killings??? KINDA? Let me rephrase, I expected the main character and the 'evil phone' to be at odds. But thats absolutely the opposite of the movie. The girl bonds with the phone and the phone urges her to kill. It was kinda ridiculous which makes it so good in a way. And then at the very end, youre like.... struggling with who to root for LMFAO. The phone is creepy an the girl is annoying so like, I don't want her to succeed??? But the last person shes after to kill is the PIECE OF SHIT boyfriend who likeeee.... for sure deserves to die. xD It was a struggle!

One of the very last scenes was so fkn epic though. The girl is crawling on the ground and using a knife to like, propell her? If that makes sense. Like she stabs the ground, pulls, picks up knife stabs again, pulls herself closer to the dude. Then when she GETS to the dude, instead of stabbing the group and pulling herself further she stabs HIM and like, goes up his body stabbing the way up. Its low key iconic tbh.

Overall this should PROB deserve a lesser rating, but not gonna lie, I had fun watching it so!

My god I loved this. This is like, your typical trashy as fuck horror movie where they throw a large group of ppl in, and then have some sort of evil, whether thats a pyscho killer, shark, etc etc etc and you just cannot predict it. Which is why i LOVE these kinds of movies so much. They're so ridiculous and off the wall that you dont know what will happen.

For example, theres like a main cast of 5, brother sister, their gf/bfs and the gay friend of the group. The sis's bff is the gf of her brother... LMFSAO. Confusing I guess but when you see this layout, youre like. Ok so the slutty girlfirend/bff is gonna die first OR the gay best friend will bc hes the least connected to the group. The movie is focusing on the main girl/sister so her boyfriend probably survives the first few kills, more than likely dies around the end. Then the main girl makes it out alive, or she's the last to die and nobody gets out.

WELL, I was happily surprised by being wrong about most of that! First off, the slutty gf/bff does NOT die first, and neither does the gay friend! THE BROTHER dies first which I was gooped and gagged about. Then they meet up with like, these other 3 ppl which is typical of this style of movie bc they just throw in as many characters to axe them all off. So good. They're not rlly important though they all die, whatever.

But then, these kind of movies also love to throw in dumb ass plot points to TRY and make the movie drama and not JUST killing which cracks me up. The first drama reveal was the slutty gf/bff revealing shes pregnant. Thats it, thats all. She said it and then there was no other point of tha tinfo being relevant the rest of the movie. I cackled. The OTHER drama which WAS SO FKN FUNNYYYYY was at a stressful point tthe gay friend starts to cry about dying without revealing secrets or some shit. And he decides to tell the reamining group that the brother was his lover and they were like, in love with eachother LOLOL. The poor gf/bff is like THE FUCK AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH THAT INFORMATION, HE'S DEAD?? BAHAHA. I'm probably evil for finding it all hilarous but my god it was great.

THEN. The kicker. The last two alive are the main girl ( who is keke palmer btw, queen ) and the bff/gf and they're all running through the woods almost escaping.... AND KEKE PALMER DIES AND THE OTHER SLUTTY GIRLS SURVIVES AND KILLS THE MONSTER AND GETS AWAY?!?! I. Was. Shook. Props to you, Animal, props to you.

YA know. I think I had too high expectations for this. I feel like when we revealed our lists, people were saying they wanted to see this and it was supposed to be good but I gotta say... I was kinda bored.

It was just sooooo sloooooooooowwwwww. Which I FEEL like can be fine sometimes, if theres a good reasoning or if theres a good ending, or an intense like 10 minute climax or like idk SOMETHING but there just... wasn't?

I think perhaps im just kinda looking at it from the wrong perspective though, because when I sit back and look at this movie as a way of like... showing how to trust/not trust other people in a stressful situation. And the life time qeustion of like, how far would you go to protect your family kinda thing? Then like okkk it wasnt half bad. I just think the whole movie could have been told in like, an hour, and had more fun/dynamic/dramatic parts added ??

Maybe im being too harsh, but im not sure this style of horror is for me maybe
