Ugh

Seeing Charlies corpse riding through Deadwood just like Ellsworth is brutal. Charlie was always super solid. Hearst is the fucking WOOOOORST, just kills when he cant get what he wants. Him and Wolcott are like two different types of psychopaths, ironic that Hearst fired him and scolded him for being a lunatic
poor Charlie |

One complaint with s3, the theater company really served zero purpose for how much time they spent on it. So much of that time would've been better served for anyone else, especially the sidelined characters. I did like Brian Cox tho

WOWWWW Harry Manning wowwww. And here I thought he was always a good guy. ppl change
Loved the scene of them all outbidding Hearst. I want this to end with all of them literally all Avengers style taking him down like Thanos, specifically when they fight him in Infinity War and each have to grab a different limb because hes too strong. I want every character to ever be on Deadwood to grab ahold of him until they finally get him

Fucking loved the scene between Johnny and that new girl with him remembering Jen. I wish we got a couple more Johnny and Jen scenes throughout the show to make it even more tragic, but I do remember the bit with him teaching her to read :(
Also just got super worried for him when they shot him in the shoulder there. That standoff was tense

LOL this kinda happened only it was literally the opposite of every named character ever, it was every single other Deadwood citizen just stomping the shit out of him. That was so satisfying. And that was Garrett Dillahunt who threw the bottle at him!
My only regret is that Bullock wasnt dragging him by his ear again, I cant believe they didnt do that

Movie
|
I LOVED it. A way way way better sendoff than the s3 finale for me. Boy it mustve been such a treat for the people who were left in the cold all those years ago to finally get some more closure
Calamity "I saved you a bullet" Jane in her most likable moment killing that lil bitch Harry Manning, good
Only regret is that Hearst didn't die. Boy did I wanna see that fuck die so bad. But the curb stomping was still great
And hey I even got my wish with a cheesy montage of sorts! Really wish they showed literally everyone though for a second at the end. EB vanished from the movie! Such a bummer. "I'm not made for such complexity" one of the best lines of the movie for sure
Actually bigger regret than Hearst not dying, I wanted more of a moment between Al and Dan really badly, I loved them as a duo. I reallyyyyy wish he left the Gem to Dan, that wouldve been the best. Dan stepping into Al's shoes in the future wouldve been a nice vision
Really glad Seth mourned Charlie by the end of the movie
I cant believe they had Jeffrey Jones back considering his...checkered past. But boy did I love Merrick taking a photo of Hearst being cuffed and dragged away after Hearst had him beat in s3 and threatened him with a rival paper
Visually I thought it was pretty stunning. I was worried it would look too digital or too expensive compared to the show but they did a really great job with the transition, I think they just clearly knew what they were doing more on top of likely having more money. Theres one shot of Sol sitting alone and the town behind him looked beautiful
8/10 for me. Washed out the plain ish taste the tv finale left
And god, what a perfect final line from Al |

Gonna miss the show a lot for sure
Al is an all time great character. Surely one of the very best TV anti heroes and Id say Hearst is one of its great villains. Too many great characters to count
