they named my brother Jordan and wanted to be one of those people that named their kids all the same letter so they went with James. No one calls me James even from birth I’ve been Jamie not sure why they didn’t just name me Jamie to start with. If I was a girl I was going to be Jessica which is my sisters name. Though they didn’t plan the J thing all along, since my brother girls name was Kelsey.

What's funny is a grew up with a guy named Jamie who, when he got older, swapped to James instead.

I don’t think I would swap to James, I feel like jamie better suits me. It’s also very weird every place I work has another jamie and it’s always a guy

My mom's middle name is Þóra, named after her favorite aunt, my grandpa's middle name is Þórarinn so she wanted me to be named that, after her aunt and my grandfather.

My middle name is a common middle name in my dad's family, he has it my great grandfather had it, various relatives have it. If you look at his family tree you'll mostly see 4 names and I have 3 of them (3rd being my father's name + son).

A cop stopped me once late night on a weekend, asked me for my ID. She looked at it and said Oh we must be related.

The worst IMO is naming your daughter after a spice and misspelling it.

My mom was born in and spent lots of her youth living in France so she picked a French first name for me. My middle name is after her insane French friend (who coincidentally is a neurologist).

Apparently I was supposed to be born a dude and they would have named me Ian, but then Christmas 1991 rolled around and I popped out a girl and low and behold they ditched the Irish af name and picked Madeline. The other girl option was Emma.

My mom's favorite Starbucks barista is named Manny, which is short for "Emanuwell." He said his mom meant to name him Emmanuel but had no idea how to spell so his name is literally spelled out phonetically. Always makes me laugh when I think about it.
