I listened to it once, didn’t pay too much attention to it but I didn’t really mind it. Didn’t feel super cohesive actually but hmm it wasn’t bad? Will need to go through it a couple more times to really judge it.

Perhaps I was catering to the crowd a bit in nominating this album. It's not the kind of thing I'd usually listen to....generally anything post 2000s is not something I'd listen to, because I'm a 'le wrong generation' boomer nerd who thinks rock music and tbh music in general is in a sorry state these days. All that aside...I thought this had something. Not much, but something. I'll see if my opinion changes on a second listen.

The only reason I came across it is because some guy who played bass for me briefly said my songs sounded similar. He thought he was a big influence on me and was surprised when I said I hadn't heard of him. Honestly I don't know what the fuck he was talking about because my songs sound nothing like this. (btw my music sucks and I'm not linking you guys to it)

Anyway, I do agree that similar stuff keeps getting nominated, and that a lot of people participating don't really get a look in, and there's no chance of them doing so with the way we currently run this.

I have an idea to remedy this. I propose we scrap the free for all nominations we currently have, and instead assign one person per month to take a turn. Perhaps they can nominate several albums and everyone can vote for their fav from there. This way everyone will get a turn, and we can guarantee that the music will be more varied.

Like this post if you agree with this proposed change, dislike if not.

This would work I think.
My suggestion would be to start with people who are regularly participating but have never had their pick chosen. I mean that sounds fair to me and then we’d be offered something different right.

Listened again. It didn't have the same impression on me that it had the first time, but I still rate it quite highly. This would be better without the weird, long instrumental interludes. They feel like filler, rather than interesting links between the tracks. A shorter album without the deadwood would be better

Despite that, there's some really good songs here, such as Disillusion, Once Around The Block, Pissing In The Wind and Camping Next To Water.

With most albums I'm lucky if I find even one standout track, so that's not bad going.

Giving this an 8

I'd give it an 8 if I had remembered to add a poll, lol

Doing that now. Everyone get your votes in

After listening through this twice (roughly 2 weeks apart), I honestly can't recall a single song from it either standing out for good or bad reasons. It was purely background noise that could have been anything.

For that reason, it gets a 5. A wholly unmemorable 5.

I listened to this 4-5 times and still don’t feel like I really know the album. It’s quite a struggle to stay interested the whole way through, but whenever I pay attention I really like what I’m hearing. This certainly has some potential and there are multiple good songs on it. Wouldn’t play it in the car, but at work it’s more than fine as background music.

I gave it a 7.
