EDIT 2: OH, and our moronic government recently decided to deport people that WE invited to come here 50 years ago. |
I followed that and it is fucking ridiculous.

I stumbled upon a video that highlights the problems here and why the Sweden Democrats are increasingly gaining support.

Yeah, I heard about this.
I don't know much about the specifics of this, but I guess this is meant to clamp down on most of the stuff that's come out of the internet that people in the mainstream considers "problematic".
Like alternative facts for example.
I'm not sure how it's like in other countries, but here, the mainstream is more or less left wing, while the freedom of the internet allows right wing opinions to flourish more. So I'm assume there's an element to that as well.

Thoughts on the Jewish girl murdered in Germany by an alleged refugee/asylum seeker?
Seems like it turned out he wasn't either of those and just there for economic opportunities therefore he should be been deported but the process completely failed. People are going to claim xenophobia but not having an honest discussion about mass immigration/border security is going to let radical parties take control. Merkel completely opening the country to mass migration has increased crime severely (by 10% with 90% being attributed to the young male migrants) .

Aye, under the thinly veiled excuse of protecting copyright holders. It's a clever idea tbh, they are directly targeting the most effective means of spreading news online; sharing.

I don't really see it as a left/right thing. There's a wide range of opinions from all across the political spectrum that have more of a voice online compared to the mainstream, and they will all be in danger of being silenced by this. (that said, I agree, I think conservatives in particular would be targeted)
This is a shitty law that nobody wanted, and nobody needed. But hey, good luck stopping it. It's not like we can vote these people out!
Maybe we should agitate for a European wide referndum on EU membership. Picture the headline:
Europe votes to leave Europe
We can manage the campaign Herm.

100% agree. One addition...it not only opened Germany to a bunch of problems, but pretty much the rest of Europe too!

I don't think I could run a campaign, I'm not a policy wizard lol.
This EU law thing was discussed for 30 whole seconds during the Midsummer's Party earlier tonight and we came to the conclusion that it was a shitty idea.
As far as immigration is concerned, the only reason Germany took as many as they did was because of the refugee crisis in Syria.
Before the refugee crisis, migration was stabile and controlled for the most part. The issue seems to be more of an integration issue to me, US seems to do that better than Europe.

Either way, not have wide open borders, but still help refugees (at least women and children) seems like the best option going forward.
Anyway, not sure if it's the same law being put into place, but apparently a long list of american news sites have been banned in Europe, like LA Times, Chicago Tribune etc.
Not that I read any of them to begin with, nor do I know the context of why they are banned now, but it's an interesting development.

So yeah, read the jewish girl story. I know jews have it rough in Europe, but I'm not really sure how often they're being targeted by muslims or other extremist groups.
It's like a nasty circle in a way, jews are being blamed for the Israel-Palestine conflict, so many leave Europe and move to Israel, further infuriating the palestinians who don't want more jews moving to Israel.
There don't seem to be any conflicts between muslims and jews in the US so whatever you're doing right over there, do it here.
I was told 2½ months ago that my underage cousins (all girls) were harassed by muslim refugees a while back, not sure how long back. They put a refugee center near their school in 2015, which wasn't a good idea as it turned into a big problem. The county later moved the refugees/migrants away from there and made plans to turn it into a restaurant again, which it used to be before the refugee crisis. I'm not sure what happened to the refugees living there, though.
