There comes a time when chaos reigns but it is not this time. Lockhart was beaten at his own game by Ronald Weasley, Mirabella Plunkett, and Madame Maxime. Lockhart foolishly gave up the Hufflepuff idol to Maxime and stripped away the immunity he had earned and given it to Angelina. He was completely vulnerable but still he attempted a devastating blindside on the Crippling Depression alliance by trying to get Fred Weasley eliminated. Ron was having nothing of that, you see, convincing Mira and Maxime to use their idols and vote for Lockhart instead. So ended the chaotic reign of Lockhart.
Cormac found himself relieved at the idea that Lockhart was gone even though he had absolutely nothing to do with the move being made and Ron only told him after the votes were locked. The fact that Ron still trusted Cormac with information was a plus, even if he was not included as he would have liked to be. Cormac was becoming used to sitting in the dark until the absolute last moment and did not complain as he was still at least in the know.
A troubling fact reached Cormac's ears earlier about the Slytherin idol being found. How someone could have collected all of the items, how they could stand to post for 21 hours, and finish anything else on top of that was amazing. Angelina believed it was Mirabella who found the idol. It was not as though Cormac was increasingly worried about this idol as Angelina herself declared she felt it would be used as a way to eliminate her. Cormac was under the radar just enough and had not made any major mistakes to his knowledge so the fact that he might not be an immediate target was a huge comfort.
Cormac was incredibly excited about the rounds challenge. An unscrambling of common Harry Potter words or phrases? Cormac had already proven himself efficient when he solved the unscrambler for Fred when he attempted for the Hufflepuff idol. How could it go wrong? Oh, yes, adding an entire word on the first unscramble, that's how. Cormac decided not to change his answer and knew it was going to cost him dearly. He moved on and solved the rest of the unscramblers before changing his answer to the first one, displeased at having to do so at all, but accepting the rules needed to be met.
Cormac listed his tribemates and how well he had communicated with them thus far based on O.W.L. grades: (O)utstanding, (E)xceeds Expections, (A)cceptable, (P)oor, (D)readful, (T)roll.
1. Amos Diggory - A
2. Angelina Johnson - A
3. Draco Malfoy - T
4. Fred Weasley - A
5. Lily Potter - P
6. Madame Maxime - T
7. Madame "Poppy" Pomfrey - P
8. Mirabella Plunkett - A
9. Ron Weasley - A
Cormac was in a slightly better mood than the last time he had ranked his social interactions. He had reached a confusing mindset having had highs at Lockhart's demise and lows at messing up a challenge that was his to lose. You really can't have everything. | |
