There were a lot of short-term goals Cormac wanted to complete last round and he was so hyped about the prospect of taking Lockhart out at the beginning that he had lost sight of the long game until he went up to bed. The next morning he lay thinking about every player in Muggle Survivor history who became short-sighted at the prospect of removing the chaotic player, the wild card, the vocal crazy, and seeing their game be cut because they did not try connecting with people more because they were playing the game too hard. Cormac did not want to be that kind of player, so he took a step back and decided to talk with players about the alliance he had discussed with Lily a few nights before.
No sooner than Lockhart had created a group with Amos, Angelina, Cormac, Fred, Lily, Poppy, and himself. The exact group Cormac wanted to initially work with until he could be certain there would be a time to split off with Ron, Draco, Fred, Poppy. For the moment he would show his loyalty through actions. He decided to vote for Newt despite his misgivings that Mirabella would not be fooled and would keep her idol. Mirabella was a great strategic player and this was poorly planned. Newt was a true sweetheart and Cormac was horribly conflicted over the vote despite their relationship being shaky at best. Cormac also felt uneasy about lying to Draco about voting for Amos but the two players had been separated for so long Cormac was no longer sure he would be able to trust Draco.
Cormac also felt terrible for keeping the group he had joined from Ron. Ron had told him all about the group he had joined with Maxime, Mirabella, Fred, Angelina, Draco, and Newt and even gave Cormac information in the chat. Cormac was troubled that Draco so freely told the chat that he was willing to vote for Amos. Maxime jumped on this and immediately asked Cormac to shake on the decision. At Ron's insistence, Cormac did without meaning it. Cormac did not want to play a liars game but the dynamics were forcing him too or become a target. He was sure being honest would only have cost him but perhaps lying had as well.
Cormac fell into an ironically crippling depression over all of the thoughts running through his head and his social game suffered for it. He was not able to communicate as effectively as he might have before tribal council results were posted and he suffered because of it, tieing with Draco for hardest to talk with. Cormac was at a loss, he was terrible at faking being positive and happy when he absolutely felt like hell. He piggybacked on the idea Lockhart had of splitting the votes between Mirabella and Maxime, not really caring either way what might happen if they both pulled idols. There were just some things that did not get better with time, and voting people out was one of them.
Half-heartedly, Cormac listed his tribemates and how well he had communicated with them thus far based on O.W.L. grades: (O)utstanding, (E)xceeds Expections, (A)cceptable, (P)oor, (D)readful, (T)roll.
1. Amos Diggory - A
2. Angelina Johnson - A
3. Draco Malfoy - P
4. Fred Weasley - P
5. Lily Potter - P
6. Gilderoy Lockhart - A
7. Madame Maxime - T
8. Madame "Poppy" Pomfrey - P
9. Mirabella Plunkett - T
1o. Ron Weasley - A
Cormac looked down at his list with indifference. He wanted to be in the game, but he did not feel like himself and was in desperate need of a challenge win to bring his confidence up. It was terrible to feel inadequate and whiny in a Hogwarts based game, and not excelling in any Survivor aspect. He did not want to feel like that person. Winning was not everything until it was the end of the game. Cormac needed to start his resume after this round concluded. | |
