Can we please talk about last round in here. I know we discussed it a lot on slack because it was changing so rapidly but we also need to comment here more as a VL to give the players stuff to read after the game.

recap
i complained about manufactured excitement and talked about how much i continue to love and cherish ronald weasley
oh boy lots of items being played - i can't really keep up with what is happening
i'm glad mirabella survived because i really enjoy her presence on the show now

sian signature essay incoming:
i wasn't really around for the drama but i'm happy with the result of snape leaving because mira and amos are more interesting characters to me. im excited to see what happens with miras idol going forward and amos to me comes across as a dark horse a lil. like he might be utr for a bit and then have a breakout later but also im pretty bad at predicting stuff and keeping up with whos in what sort of position so maybe i'm off.
and also i agreed with kreacher about the manufactured drama (which has mainly been at the hands of snape and lockhart) like, it's fun to watch the drama unfold to an extent but like kreacher said on slack - the genuine emotional reactions of ron are so much more interesting to see play out than the "lets kill a VL fave or edgic contender this round" strategy or whatever.
also semi-related to that, which i don't think i've expressed anywhere before but its something that has always annoyed me a little bit. i don't rly like it when players talk about and refer to their own and other peoples edgic predictions or like especially their desired edgic goals for certain rounds or w/e while the game is ongoing. it like... takes me out of it as a viewer and makes them seem somewhat in-genuine. like they're only doing things to come across a certain way.
like when i'm playing, the last thing i'm thinking about is what edgic i'm going to get? cus it doesn't affect how i'm going to play. i'm always going to just do what i think is best for my game or what my instincts tell me to do.
like can you imagine watching survivor and someone being like "its time for my CPP breakout episode!!!"idk. it would really put me off that person. its like theyre breaking the forth wall or something??? idk if that makes sense to anyone else.
then again its not THAT big of an issue. its more of a pet peeve, and less of a dealbreaker type thing for me. i guess for more seasoned org players who know/care more about edgic it might not be something you can switch off in your brain. i'm still learning the ins and outs of edgic so maybe my opinion on this will change or adapt later and ill end up doing the same thing but atm but it just rubs me the wrong way a little. sort of like alias guessing rubs people the wrong way. like you just wish people would NOT factor that into their gameplay but i guess on the other hand it can be hard not to.

I think of edgic kind of like a language to describe your style of play. By saying you’re CPN or whatever for the round means that you’re actually doing things and like, actually being a major character for the round. I don’t think referencing edgic in-game is disingenuous, because it’s actually describing a style of play and is kinda like...being self-aware about your position in the game. So like, if you do something that’s best for your game and call it CPN, it’s not really disingenuous and actually helps the viewers understand what’s happening from an in-game point of view. Edgic by definition is the combination of editing and logic, and it helps clarify storylines and show who really is impacting the round idk.
Also, as I mentioned on slack, people play orgs for different reasons. There are people on survivor (hiiii michaela) who also do things for theatrics, sooo yeah. Everyone has different reasons for playing orgs, and the vets who have played 50 of these things obviously have more incentive than like, a second-time player where this experience feels super real to them. Ron calling Lockhart a diabolical mastermind, when Lockhart kinda just wants to mess around and have fun really shows the disconnect between the two players. Part of survivor imo is to figure out everyone’s motivations and adjust accordingly. Not everyone ~ plays to win ~ and I think like, part of your duty as a player is to assess everyone’s motivations and figure out how use them to best forward your own game :)

clarification:
*vets have more incentive to shake up the game just for the fun of it

i totally understand what you’re saying. i don’t think i did a very good job of explaining why it annoys me. maybe forget about the word ingenuine. i don’t think that’s the right word. i understand using it as a tool to be more self aware and analytical of your own game and i can see the benefits to that but i suppose what i’m getting at is that it comes across super gamebotty to read as a PW and sort of breaks the illusion of the org being an actual game of survivor that i’m watching.
honestly the more i try to explain it the more i realize that i’m being a bit hypercritical. i think it’s just a nit picky thing.

wait so lockhart is telling everyone snape went home with the hufflepuff idol but lockhart is under the impression that he didn’t and he thinks he’s lying to everyone about it so they think it’s out of play...
snape did go home with the hufflepuff idol though, right??
or did i miss something? did snape pass the idol?

i think it's funny that people (cormac, fred, etc) see lily as this huge player when she literally has no idea what she's doing and is probably just being honest any time someone asks her something | Post a picture of Shrek to earn an advantage |
