hey pals. i know it's still technically pregame but whatever.

i've been hyped as fuck for this game to start and thank goodness we're finally here. my intention is to play smooth and subtle to start and ramp it up as the game progresses. that said, i am not subtle, so i don't expect that to pan out. that doesn't mean i'm not going to try. i just want everyone to like me enough to want me around and keep me in the loop, but i don't want to end up calling the shots or pushing much of anything too aggressively. we'll see how that goes, it's impossible to know what will work and what won't until everyone is here and tribes get sorted.

so far i've talked to a few people and while there hasn't been anything wildly substantial, the standouts to me thus far are ausenia, hailey, and miami. ausenia and hailey are both easy to talk to, and they seem like they've got good heads on their shoulders. i'd be pleased to end up on a tribe with either of them. miami is a gift. she's a big personality, for sure. that being said, having a big personality can often lead into playing a big game. i'm not sure if she's someone i would actively want to play with yet because she could turn out to be an unpredictable wildcard. dylan and wendy both seem chill but we haven't had long conversations yet. i've briefly chatted with bobby, who got to play with puppies today, and santiago, who has a shtick. i'm hoping santiago doesn't lean too hard on it. i find it hard to trust shticks because they make people feel two-dimensional and it gets hard to feel like i know where somebody is genuinely coming from.

well this took three seconds to get messy as heck

maxwell, dylan, travis, and wendy all volunteered. miami decided she was unhappy with EVERYTHING and threw her name into the ring.

dylan just straight up asked me to vote for him so i said yes and i'm sticking to it miami be damned. travis, after the blandest five minutes of conversation i've had yet, said out of nowhere "you seem like the kind of guy i wanna work with." INTERESTING CAMPAIGN TACTIC

i think this is going to come down to dylan and miami, and possibly whether or not miami wants to push to win it. i told dylan i'd vote for him, and i told miami i'm voting dylan, but that i'd be willing to vote for her if she wants it. miami keeps saying she just wants this to be simple and not messy, but i get the vibe she really wants it and doesn't want to come off pushy.

wendy told me she wants to work with me and i agreed. she wants to use dylan to help get tribes that work for us, ~subtly~. i'm not opposed to working dylan but i don't wanna push anything unless it feels natural. wendy isn't my top pick for working with yet (hailey and ausenia are probably top two) but she's definitely up there. she seems chill and grounded, so i'm down for playing with her for now and seeing how that goes.

so miami officially backed down from HBIC which is probably for the best. keeps us from tipping over the precipice of messiness for a little longer. meanwhile, according to wendy, dylan is considering sorting the tribes between "active" players and "inactive" players. which... is a choice! i'm not sure how you're supposed to judge someone's activity based on barely two days. i question the wisdom of trying to stack one tribe against the other because people on the "inactive" tribe who find good footing will see dylan as a target, and dylan doesn't know which tribe he'll find himself on when he gets dethroned. but if dylan wants to sink his own game, that's fine, i'll just float to safety ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

with that said, let's do a quick pre-tribes cast assessment!

AUSENIA- i love her. she's chill and witty and easy to talk to. i'd love to end up on the same tribe as her to get to know her better and hopefully work with her! wendy loves her too, and from how she spoke i got the distinct sense ausenia and wendy have already grown rather close.

BIANCA - haven't gotten to talk to her a TON yet but in our brief meeting she seemed pretty fun. might be a bit of a firecracker. someone i'd like to keep an eye on.

BOBBY - he seems really nice so far and of a similar mindset in staying out of the spotlight. generally inoffensive. BESIDES THAT HE IS INVISIBLE ON THE BOARD AND CLEARLY HIDING SOMETHING

DYLAN - i like him a lot, he's fun to talk to and knows how to keep a conversation rolling. that said, i have great concerns about his judgment skills. i'm willing to work with him but i'm wary and i'm gonna be keeping a close eye on his reign as HBIC. wendy DID say he told her he would give her an idol clue, so if he's in with my #1, i have good reason to keep him around for the time being.

FRANK - who? i know he joined slack late but we've still BARELY spoken.

GEORGIA - but seriously, WHO? she pops in for a couple lines of 'how's it going' then poofs again. not impressed.

HAILEY - as i've stated i ADORE hailey. she's really lovely to chat with. however, i think she might be trying to do the same thing i am by coasting through and not gathering too much attention except that she's definitely better at it. but i might just be salty that she called me deanald trump.

JOSLIN - she seems really cool and bubbly, but she's definitely one of the people i've spoken with the least.

LAUREN - i was perplexed at first because she has a really odd way of speaking that my stoned mind cannot always parse, but she's very charming and sweet. via wendy, i know hailey likes her.

MAXWELL - i really, really like maxwell. i feel a cool little spark with him where the conversation just flows and i wanna talk to him more. is that possibly because i wanna bang his model? maybe. but he's just really great to chat with. if dylan does sort between active and inactive, maxwell is someone i worry would end up on the opposite tribe because he hasn't been around as much as others, but i really want to try and work with him given the opportunity.

MIAMI - i have a lot of feelings about miami. i love her, she's a hoot, she's crazy, she's scary. she definitely likes attention, but i think she's trying very hard to avoid letting that get the best of her gameplay. i predict that she's going to crack pretty quickly, get super paranoid, and make some rash decisions. my goal is to be allied with her to the point where she doesn't come for me, but not so obviously close that i get caught in the inevitable fallout of whatever explosion she causes.

SANTIAGO - not my favorite! as can happen with people playing characters, i have a hard time finding depth to him. i'm probably judging too harshly and we just haven't had a good, solid conversation, but wendy said something pretty similar to me.

TRAVIS - lmao whew. i can't get over this man offering me an alliance immediately after joining the game. i want to give him the benefit of the doubt because he DID join late and probably thought he had more to catch up on than he actually does, because he did become a little easier to talk to and he says a lot of intriguing things.

TROY - troy has quickly become a favorite. he's really precious and i'm still laughing over him suddenly deciding his alias was the son of billy idol. we really enjoy talking to one another and i could see him becoming my #1 down the road. like maxwell, i'm concerned about him potentially getting sorted to an "inactive" tribe, because i really want troy on my side in this game.



WENDY - an iconic legend. we stan. am i confident we're a longterm pair? not quite yet. but we get on well, and we seem to be on a similar wavelength. the main difference is that wendy is already gearing up to play ball. she's not loud about her game, but she definitely has Things To Do. this is ideal for me, because i don't want to be the leader, i want to be the second-in-command. wendy seems eager to take the lead and i'm eager to let her.
