You grab hold of your extinguished candle and snap it in hopes of carrying it with you always. Unfortunately what was left of it, for some reason, appeared to be extremely brittle. It snaps at an awkward angle, causing it to fall apart into several smaller chunks. Bargain bin wax? What fresh hell.
