That actually depends on the builder. There could be many entrances and only through one route we could reach our goal. Or maybe us 15 is there all there is to here.

We had a BBQ or something along that with fish that only one dared to try. Aside from that, nothing else, but I missed the last few minutes before that, so I really can't say.

This could be a reason, or maybe we were the ones behind? I know it sounds fairly wrong but it's a chance that could have happened.

As for the chalk, Urk has the final word on what the chalk can be used for, let's wait on his saying.

I don't know that any message needs to be left right now. Perhaps once we are actually moving through the lab and there are choices in direction, we could use it to guide them the way we are going?

This seems to be the basic idea for the chalk in my opinion. But again, Urk has the last word.

My fears are that he is being arrogant so that we do not fight hard to have him stay (or follow him), and that his leaving will cost the group a valued member (activity, role, etc) Maybe he must find himself alone in a certain number of phases? Maybe he has an item or scroll he can only read while alone (or something that becomes public to all in the room when activated/read)? Part of me hopes he is just being arrogant to be arrogant and that we won't be losing anything of value, but I highly doubt that.

Well so far he's being quite active and he doesn't fear what's beyond the door (so he goes first), which leads me to think he might have an extra life or something along that (yes, even though this is the first phase and chances are that there isn't something to kill us up next). So unless we meet a teleporter or something like that, he's useful to us in that way.

Also, just to make sure... Anyone else has or had (and then lost) any items in their inventory?

I forgot to ask this beforehand but it seems some people did and lost them while entering this place. I for once never had an item in my inventory (the thing about a canteen was just randomness i toyed with during the meeting).
