Helm moved to the South. It seemed like they'd been stood around in here for far too long and time was against them. She felt restless and eager to move on. She pushed on the door releasing device and watched as it slid open. She sighed and took a brave step forward. The unknown was always unpleasant.
The room beyond had a terrible hue about it. The floor was blue of sorts but it was emitting an extremely bright light that veered on the side of green. The net effect was very unsettling. She strode across the floor, noticing how it crackled and fizzled with her every step. More future magic, presumably. It left her feeling queasy and unsettled. Behind her the others were now milling through.
The room was standard size with a door to the North and South. As she walked across the floor, it changed. She almost toppled over in shock. Beneath her feet was an image of something. It was shining up at her, hard to make-out because it wasn't in order. The image was scrambled. She turned to look at the group who seemed equally clueless. Maybe this was a rarity even in the strange future lands. She reached down and touched the floor. The tile beneath her foot lit up bright.
She jumped back at this. What magic allowed her to create light at her fingertips?
General Chuikov looked around at clueless faces. A few seemed to register but this one would be up to him. He nodded.
"It is liquid crystal. Substance used to make new computer monitors for many years now. It is also interactive. Let me try things."
He walked across to where Helm was stood, silently cursing the magic floor with her eyes. He walked onto the tile and moved across to where a blank tile lay to the right. The tile slid across the floor. Helm looked on in awe.
"Is puzzle. Tiles must be placed in right place. Very simple no?" Said Mikhail as he backed away, leaving the floor open for everybody to see.
It is now Phase 41. Phase 41 will end in roughly 24 hours from now.
Objectives:
You may attempt to solve the puzzle. Please post a screenshot of the finished time in your role thread. Make sure that a window with your logged in username on the forum navigation bar (floating at the bottom of the site, or the top if you have that disabled) is visible on the screenshot when you submit it. The puzzle along with the time must be posted for it to count. The person with the quickest time at the end of the phase will win the challenge.

Interesting. Solving this puzzle could either be very good or very bad... |
I wonder what person who win will get. |
Looks like a puzzle of Pandora's Box. |
If we choose to do the puzzle, I think only one of us should do it. |
We are usually told if a challenge will have bad consequences, no? |
Only one doing it might risk bad people from taking advantage. Bad people competing against many better than one. Less chance of winning for them.
I have very busy schedule this phase so I do not think I will get proper chance at puzzle, I hope we get something good from this. I also hope those who do bad are not penalized, that would be very bad. I doubt that is case though, no mention of bad stuff happening to people who are bad at puzzles. |
This puzzle looks quite frustrating to complete. |
Was any item sensed in this room? |

Ah, that's a good point. Having more competition would be good for us if there is a bad person here. I was thinking that if only one person did the puzzle, then if something bad happened from doing the puzzle, it would only affect one person instead of multiple people. |
All should try I think. I think if something bad would happen, Willis would mention it. Like he always does. He wants us to know when we will suffer, he is sick like that. |
I actually just finished it. If people want to know how fast I can tell them. |
I won't be anywhere near the fastest, but I might try it later. |
Also, so no one is surprised. I will be killing Pai later. If she returns (midway through the phase, I guess) I'll hope someone is one because I may need to use up Hoberts life and it would be good to discuss our next step should that happen. |

*nods* I'll be here the whole time. |
The South is trapped.
No further symptoms Sophia? |
So one exit or backtrack and it's trapped. Really over this path we're currently on.
If I attempt this slider, I can assure you my time will most likely be measured in hours not minutes. :\ |

I don't remember Brittany saying anything about items at all last phase. |

I could do this in about 2 minutes....but since there aren't numbers I'm not sure a good system to memorize where the pieces go.
If anyone has a good system that would help with that, I could do this puzzle pretty fast. |
Even without looking at the assembled picture, I can see how the scrambled pieces should go together, but I'm not good at these puzzles even when they have numbers. |
I think I'm figuring it out.
I'll have to practice a lot. |
I think that's the way to do it. Practice until you're good at it and then turn it in. :) |
Well behind the tiles is the picture of the piece. That helped a ton. I took about 5 min |
Thats 5 min faster than my first try too |

Mine doesn't have that... |
you can always move the tiles around as drawn pieces of paper and mark the moves down before attempting it at all to get your time good and low.
Like memorizing the steps to a dance. |

It's a faded image. The bottom right square is the one that'll be empty at the end of the puzzle, so it doesn't show there, but when you start the puzzle, you see the image. |
Oh!
Well this puzzle really is a mystery then. |
Oh. Well, can you sense items in the room you're in or only in the adjacent rooms? |
Yeah, I can't do this, lol. I'm like a dog chasing it's tail when I'm left with the bottom row to finish. |
Yeah, I can't do this, lol. I'm like a dog chasing it's tail when I'm left with the bottom row to finish. |
That happens to me too! |
I always end up with a single square off diagonally.
Every time it's the exact same problem.
I must be doing it wrong or something. |
Oh wow what I thought was the bottom right piece was actually the bottom left piece!
Let me re-try it with that in mind! |
Got it down to about 4 minutes but I know I can do better. |
I have tried and I too seem to get the square mixed up on one side, then I tend to flip it around only for the other sides to be switched. Willis is toying with us with these puzzles |
My best advice is to finish the top 3 row working each row and on the last two rows finish them as 2 block high columns left to right. |

I don't see how that helps. You wind up with 3 pieces just going in circles. |

i do too but they have always ultimatey fallen into place if they are on the right bottom corner. |

Ohh man I'm so bad at this, not even going to try |

You say that like it's a bad time...
I spent 19 minutes getting 8 pieces in place. :$ I'll stick to maps and notes, slider puzzles are definitely not my strength.

Sophia, doing ok? I'll be checking in off and on today if you need anything. And I'm sure others will as well.
Also, Maria, any news on your condition? I'm hoping you have been healed. |

Based on some of Katy's comments I would be surprised if she was. I sure hope she didn't volunteer while having that role.
I do wonder if perhaps the healer only had a certain amount of times that they could heal someone though. Do you think it would be something like that, or am I way off with that idea? |

Since he is back can we please discuss Tyrese and how he is still alive?
I mean, maybe that monster wasn't deadly but I have a hard time believing that whole room was for nothing and he just went away without any pain or injury. He was already injured once before I can't believe it didn't kill him.
Maybe he can explain because I don't buy he just went out without a scratch. |
At least give us something to talk about while waiting for this puzzle business. |
Tyrese walked across the plank and twisted the combination slowly. Everybody watched with bated breath. There was an audible click and the safe released. He opened it wide, looking on in amazement as Dennis spotted something bubbling in the water. He'd been wary of it for a while. Everybody's eyes shot to the bubbling water anxiously.
"Tyrese, come back." He said without hesitation. Tyrese turned around and saw the water.
At that moment the room began to shake. The once tranquil water became hostile and something was emerging from the depths. Tyrese leaped forth as the wooden planking behind him collapsed down, smashing into the dry stone canal. He dived forth another step, launching himself over the pool.
An enormous purple tentacle burst forth from the water as the group gasped. Another emerged from the other side to join it. Slowly the water filled with dancing tentacles that coiled around and whipped at the air angrily. Water splashed out in all directions as Tyrese used his NBA training to jump and dash like a pro.
There was a tremendous crash as an enormous purple jaw rose from the water and attempted to swallow him whole. The water splashed high, obscuring the vision of everybody on the platform as it chomped through wooden planking. Everybody held their breath.
A shadow of a man emerged in the water, soaring high above where the beast had been. It arced through the air, holding an imaginary ball in its hand. Tyrese crashed down on wooden planking so hard that it almost burst under foot. He gave one final dash and reached the safety of the stone shore.
The devastation behind him slunk away into nothingness and Tyrese sat himself down, exhausted. The beast returned to the depths. All that remained of the wooden planking was sawdust and damp timber. |
It missed. |
I just don't get how he was injured and walked away with nothing.
What is the point of the monster at all? Or would someone else have been swallowed and because of who he is or what his ability is allowed him to escape?
It said the waters obscured our vision. For all we know something happened in that short time that we don't get to see but Tyrese was told something different in his journal saying "because of this you were able to escape".
Still seems unlikely that same thing happens with anyone who got the puzzle. |
*shrugs* I don't know. That puzzle wasn't like this one. |

So you think something more happened in this part?
I'm pretty sure Willis has said flavor will never hint at or indicate roles or abilities, but I could be wrong.
*shrugs* I don't know. That puzzle wasn't like this one. |
I agree, that puzzle was much more random, which also makes me think the NBA stuff is just flavor, and had it been someone else would have just been worded according to their character type. |
The chance of being caught by the monster could've been random too. Maybe Tyrese's wife knew his outcome already and that was why she sent that image of him. |

He did say that.
and honestly, I'm kind of annoyed considering this isn't the first time this has been brought up. I mentioned it last time, and I'll mention it again, if I was going to get hurt or attacked, it would have been in the flavour. What, you would have been more happy/accepting had I fucking died? Jesus. |

Considering things could be shifted a space or two either direction, I'm very concerned how close we are treading to 6006. We really need to find a parallel asap.
Something to think about is all.
And no not accepting but obviously it would have made more sense.
How often have things been brought up again just to ease minds? Seriously, this isn't out of the ordinary Tyrese. If you have nothing to worry about then you have nothing to worry about. |
Sorry if you getting attacked but surviving a huge kraken attack seemed fishy to me. |
And I never knew if it got resolved. It was brought up again while you were gone so I was waiting for you to get back so you could explain.
At least I did that instead of doing it while you were gone. |

I think you bring up a good point Hobert but this group doesn't really like confronting issues like that.
I can't say with certainty but I don't think I have ever heard of an attack simply missing before. |

You haven't been attacked much then. Monsters can miss. |
Oh you have? When exactly have they missed? |
Including traps too I can't think of any. |
I didn't mean in this labyrinth. I meant in general. I'm a magical girl who fights monsters on a regular basis. I know that their attacks can miss. |
The monster in the vault room is only one of two monsters that we've seen. The other one ate Scott, but the one that tried to hit Tyrese missed. We know that Cerberus is around, but we haven't seen him yet. We know that he kills the closest person, but we don't know what happens to the others.
In my opinion, we haven't encountered enough monsters to know if an attack missing is such an odd occurrence. |
Idk... It seems odd to me too. Nothing that can really be discussed though. There is little we can do based on what we have. It would have to happen again. |

I've brought it up before.
But what do you want really?
Us to tie Tyrese up and treat him like a dog...
because of a hunch...
because of something based on previous knowledge which might not be applicable here.
Because... monster-proof or not we need Tyrese now more than ever.
A time when we need as many alive as possible.
A time when we're dropping like flies
A time where we are armed and frankly a little paranoid.
...
I just don't want something to happen that we'll all regret.
Bad or good, Pressing Tyrese without him being able to argue with anything to placate the masses will only end poorly.
I'm sure Hobert is well aware of that. |
It might be better to ask Hobert, Helm lol. |

Well I was just commenting on the dig that we don't confront these situations. |
Oh uh...
there is still the issue of the trap to the south and the phase ending soon.
Like in an hour I think. |
I don't know if it would even help to backtrack at this point. Whichever way we go, there will be traps. |
5401* is a parallel and we might be able to reach that locked from outside North room, but what if those shades and that barrier game are still there and active? |

If this is the case, the healer should come forward so we know. The healer would no longer be a threat to scum and wouldn't be in any danger of being exposed.
Anyway, the monster that ate Scott could carry a hit/miss ratio, we don't know. Pai, QG, and Balagor didn't get attacked on one way so there is certainly a chance that monsters have a hit/miss ratio. Pointless debate anyway.
I think we should head toward the nearest parallel maybe? Does the phase really end shortly? *shivers* |
Pai Chan was stood in the room silently. She hadn't spoken for a while. This place could really have that sort of effect on people. She was just staring longingly, her mind elsewhere and not really focused on the events around her. It came as no surprise that she didn't notice Sophia standing behind her, hovering silently.
"I'm sorry about this...." She said. The room turned dark as everybody looked on, their breaths held. And then there was the sound of cut meat.
Pai Chan fell to the floor, coughing and spluttering blood as he throat spurted out red fluid onto the floor. Sophia shut her eyes and took a step away, brandishing a small bloody knife. She moved silently to the side of the room, refusing to make eye contact with anybody and slumped down on the floor.
Pai writhed around for a few seconds before coming to a complete standstill. The red stained the tiles around the scrambled image, and her eyes stared upwards in horror, meeting Sophia's dead on.
She turned away and closed them as Pai stopped moving for the final time. |
If it ends on time, we should get the hour's notice message soon. |

I think the general. |
I was planning on adding to the exit list who has exited first lately but I realised other than the obvious trap rooms I couldn't quite remember who exited first most of the time.
I can actually remember the earlier phases but not anything very recent.
Which is kind of annoying.
I don't know where my head has been lately. |
Am I passing it to Sophia? |
Sophia exited first recently into the red room, didn't she? I'd say no, unless you actually want to. I'd volunteer to exit first before Sophia. |

Watch the prize be a portable puzzle you can carry with you and place on your enemies to confuse them and make them solve it before they can exit a room. |
