Theseus charged towards the Northern entrance. He smirked back at the group who were scowling somewhat. It didn't phase him. Jealousy would get them nowhere. He knew he was better than all of them put together anyway.
He stood by the Northern door and pushed hard. The door clicked and slid open. Theseus braced himself but marched in slowly. The room beyond was another corridor, much like the one they were just in. Theseus grimaced. It was unlike the brave hero to show signs of weakness but he'd experienced this before. And there were still no signs of the Dusk Vanguard or any traces of the fat king's other men.
Dern marched forth along with the rest of the group. He was feeling confident that they could work out their differences and make it okay. Talion was less impressed. He stood behind the wavering Theseus and glared.
"Suddenly not so brave, right hero?"
Theseus turned around and glared at him.
"Didn't we have a little talk about your tongue and what I would do to it if you kept speaking out of line."
Stonehard Lee waved his colossal arms.
"This fighting is no good. We must work together to.."
"I wonder if your tongue is made out of stone too. It would make a nice ornament on my-"
He stopped as a whirring noise behind him drew the collective attention. Theseus grabbed his sword. The strange purple sparks were dancing along the walls. They seemed to be increasing in frequency.
He grabbed his head as something shot into his mind's eyes. The rest of the group seemed to feel it too, as they each braced themselves carefully. Talion tried to remain looking strong but the pain was quite intense. Like a steel rod entering the head. Along with the pain came images. Shadows in the darkness. They were alien and mysterious.
The group stood up tall and each formed an offensive pose as more sparks danced around. The shadows seemed to be all around them. They occasionally flitted into view but it was always a stray detail. Never anything concrete. Wilt waved his sword at the shadows but it didn't seem to have any effect.
"Just a trick of the wizard!" Said Arimnestos helpfully. "Don't give it any attention. He knows we're here. He's trying to break our resolve. As long as we stand tall together we can-"
Behind him there was a rush of air. The sparks were colliding in the air and in the centre of their dance was a hole. It hovered mysteriously above the ground, intangible and impossibly thin. Theseus snarled and grabbed his sword. Yelling, he charged headlong into the strange shape and cut the air. Nothing happened.
He breathed out deeply and turned to face the others.
"It's just an illu-"
Suddenly the hole increased in size. The light from the room seemed to evaporate as the hole sucked it inwards. The party braced themselves against whatever they could find as Theseus turned to look at the mysterious hole in the sky. He grimaced and let out a furious yell as his body was raised off the ground. The group looked on in awe and horror as his entire form hurtled forth, right into the purple and black eye of the swirling energy vortex.
Finally, when he was gone from sight, it sealed up completely. The purple sparks danced away up the walls and disappeared from view altogether.
Dern crept forward to where the hole had appeared and reached out. The others began feeling the walls. Nothing.
Theseus was gone.
It is now Phase 2. Phase 2 will end in roughly 24 hours from now.

Well, ain't that a surprise.
He got separated alright ... |
|
Was that some kind of wormhole?! |
|
A teleportation trap has taken our arrogant Theseus. I should be grateful he beat me to the punch on the exit |
|
Had to happen sooner or later. Just hoped it would be later... |
|
Only an exit to the north friends, I guess we have no choice.
|
|
Wow, it looks like he got his wish. :\ ... assuming he's not dead?
Well then, what's to be done from here? We came from the south, so I'm assuming it's onward unless we want to backtrack? I don't think there's much to see in the previous hall anyway. |
|
|
Only an exit to the north friends, I guess we have no choice.
|
Backtracking to the south makes no sense is what I mean. Not this early on with a dead end behind us.
Could we see someone teleported to us from another group? A swap of sorts? |
|
"Hey when is it going to be my turn to be the top"
"Quiet or they'll hear you..."
THUD
*Urk trips and his mask and cloak fall off revealing to be 3 odd looking ducks on top of each other*
Now look at what you have done idiot. |
|
Onward is the only option at this point. Am also a little happy not having to put up with Theseues arrogance for the time being. |
|
We must also be suspicious of Theseus moving forward, should our paths ever cross.
Transported to another room? Or transported to the wizard and handed the choice between an evil task, or death? |

Hmm ... So Theseus got teleported somewhere else probably? I doubt the arrogant's hero ended so quickly.
Just a warning to everybody, even though obvious, be careful whenever you meet him again. |

Theseus is spirited away.
Some in this group might see this as the gods being kind.
Forgive my off color joke.
I feel he is alive, and that we may run into him again, surely his intel from beyond the portal will prove useful when we return to Minos. |
|
I think Urk turning out to be three ducks is the most benevolent twist we'll get. |
|
Well I was at the bottom since morning and my shoulders hurt, how come I can't be the top?!"
Because you can't control your dumb mouth! |
|
|
We must also be suspicious of Theseus moving forward, should our paths ever cross.
Transported to another room? Or transported to the wizard and handed the choice between an evil task, or death? |
Just what I was thinking, that was a bit suspicious, like he knew exactly what was going to happen. |

Ducks, why were you pretending to be one person? |

Well hello our feathered friends. A little less hideous looking. How did a trio of billed birds get into this group of heroes.

Urk turns out to be water fowls?
Perhaps the gods have abandoned us after all. |

What I'm wondering is, if Theseus knew what was behind the door, why would he act like he would stick with us if there were a shift? Idk if he knew about this happening, but I imagine it was his plan to split from the group... but in this manner? I'm not sure.
Are you all really thinking we should be careful of him in the future? I think he is very self-centric but would he really harm one of us? |

The heroes were stood around looking at the void with concerned expressions. Whatever they thought of Theseus it was still a nasty prospect. Who knows where he might be now?
As they looked on, Airlea heard something faint. She turned around and glanced into the shadows, raising her finger to silence the other heroes. Wilt grabbed his sword hilt. What now? Ajax nodded to the others and charged forward with a war cry. A shadowy figure stood stock still as he dived into it, full bodily.
Ajax pinned the struggling figure down as the others approached.
"Who goes there?!" He demanded. He looked down to see a man dressed from head to toe in black.
"The wizard?" Said Arimnestos curiously.
Dern shook his head. "I doubt that very much. Doesn't sound like a man who takes to being pinned down."
"I mean you no harm!" The man declared. He had wispy black hair and a black beard. There was a red scar on the centre of his forehead.
Ajax looked suspiciously on but hoisted him up to his feet. The man dusted down his black robe and glanced around. His eyes came to rest on the enormous Stonehard Lee in some awe.
"Our friend here will show you what's what if you try anything. Just a friendly warning." Said Ajax with a grin.
The man nodded. He didn't have much choice.
"I wasn't planning on trying anything. I came to investigate the Labyrinth."
Ajax looked over at the others.
"Well you're in luck. So did we. You can stick with us. Travelling alone might not be best advised based on what we just witnessed. The great Theseus got himself teleported away by some magic."
The man looked up at the air.
"Magic?" He questioned.
Ajax shrugged.
"I don't trust the stuff personally. Each their own."
Maria walked over to the black robed man curiously.
"What's your name?" She asked.
He looked down. This was a strange group. A lot to take in.
"Erebos." He said finally.

It's called a disguise idiots!
Ulysses don't be rude, we should introduce ourselves...

Erebos welcome.
When did you arrive at this Labyrinth.
We did not see you on the outside. |

Are you all really thinking we should be careful of him in the future? I think he is very self-centric but would he really harm one of us? |
Well, there's something unique about this Theseus for sure... And to be honest, I think he already knew that he was going to split from us here. Why? I'm not sure, I'm just having my doubts about it. The one thing I can't say is that this departure is a good thing or a bad thing for the rest of the group, but it will become something important later on.
At least that's my guess.
As for the feathered friends, what are your 3 names? I'm guessing each one stands for the U.R.K. |
|
But why would three ducks want to come into a place like this? |
|

I think you are being far to trusting. Personally I do not trust anyone as of yet. |
|
So, we were the second group after all probably. Or somebody else started in another side.
Anyway, I'm sorry for the attack, Erebos. Would you please tell us what happened to you before you got here? Where you wandering this place with somebody else or alone? If so, can you tell us how many? Did you take note of the rooms you have been visiting or any other information about those rooms? |

True, but so far it doesn't make it an advantage for us to distrust people. We should carry on with our way north.

I agree with this Stonehard Lee. Definitely would be cautious of him.
And Peter, I believe he may have said that so that when we came to a place with options we didn't have a few people follow him. I do believe he wanted to be alone and intended to do that at his first possible opportunity.
|
|
One last question to Erebus.
You did seem to say you don't believe in magic, but somehow, you appeared here from virtually nowhere since the door north didn't seem to move (at least from description), so...
What time are you from? |
|
Welcome Erebos. I too have all the questions that the others have already asked. Also, if you were with another group, do you happen to have a list of those people you were traveling with? And if you were with another group, did you transport directly here, or travel through any other places along the way? |
|
Being a duck is a tough life you know,? It's hard getting a job!
We heard about Minos, so we hitched up with this disguise to get in. [color]

Personally I could care less about Thesues. He is a lost cause and if he ended with the other group I expect they would kill him if he started acting up.
As for our dear Erebos. I hate to do this to you but since we have already gotten acquainted with and sort of found of our group and have zero ideas of your intentions or back story I am going to suggest as a group that we force the new-commer to go first. Just this phase of course but it is sort of an initiation to prove his worth to the group. |
|
For U.R.K. aside from the accident that showed us all your true selves, is there any other reason this happened at this time and not before? Or was it somehow by choice?
As for Kyle specifically, why are you always shrubbing and talk less than your ... brothers/friends? |

I want to hear what Erebos has to say before moving on. |

Maria, what are you trying to remember with the note, "Don't forget." ?

My reason for teleporting, even though I didn't expect to end up here. I don't know what this Labyrinth has in store for us, but I don't want to forget my mission. It's very important to me, so I thought the note would help. |

You have asked a lot about missions, have you been assigned a special mission of your own? |

Something precious was stolen from my friend and I. It's an amulet and she died fighting to keep it. I need to get it back and I think it's somewhere in this labyrinth. I don't know if the rest of you could help me, but I would be grateful for your company as I search for it.

No, not exactly. It wasn't assigned. I chose it because of my friend and because I don't want anything bad to happen if the amulet falls into the wrong hands. |

It might. I'm not sure what properties it has. I've felt very uneasy since it was stolen, like I won't ever feel right until I know it's safe. |

Just putting this back up there for food of thought. We just met yesterday and now you all are agreeing this help this mysterious creature, as we are unsure if she is even human, to recover her amulet. For all we know this amulet could be a device for evil instead of good.
I agree with Arim that we need to be a unified and strong group but at the same we cannot be too trusting. |

You don't have to trust me if you don't want to. We have only just met, as you said, but back in my world, I fight evil on a regular basis. That's why I don't want to leave the amulet in this place. This labyrinth is so not a good place. |

Over time we will have a better idea as to who is trustworthy. We will find the amulet, maybe it is important for our journey as well.

It's true what you say that we can trust no one so far, but finding out more doesn't hurt. If we get to manage to find the amulet we can always keep it between us before giving it to Maria just to make sure everything goes along fine. |
|
What I mean, is that it doesn't do us any harm trying to think of ways to help each other so far. |
|
I am a naturally trusting person until I am given reason to distrust, it's just how I operate. It's better to trust than to distrust everyone, which only leads to problems when problems aren't even there. At least if you're too trusting, then you won't be causing problems until the problem arises. But I understand, Wilt. I am just giving them the benefit of the doubt, it's not like there's anything to be done at this point anyway. I have no ill intentions for anyone.
I, too, am wanting to wait for Erebos and his comments before moving forward. Though I'm sure no harm could be done by preparing myself to move forward.

I understand, I just don't want to create problems by distrusting people when they did nothing to deserve the distrust. I have been betrayed too, and it sucks - but I would rather not cause problems out of distrust. I trust this group so far, but I'm not going to put my life in anyone's hands as of now. You are right, that we have only just met. As time goes on, our trustworthiness will be tested, and we'll see.
Thank you for the advice, though. I will not forget it and I know you're only trying to look out for everyone, I appreciate that. |

Hello all, I wonder if this minion Erebos will ever speak, now that he hath been spoken to. I do not see the point to exit to the South, as we would just end up in one of two places. Either back in the room from which we came, or flung somewhere to where ever Theseus ended up.

I would love to hear from Erebos soon. Find out how he came to be the one teleported here, who he was with, and in which direction they traveled after phase 1. |

I'm without a doubt going to get in the line of fire for what I'm about to say, but Maria, there's something I've just noticed about this.
The intro phase we had you made around 20 posts.
The first phase we've had you had around 6 posts.
This third phase we've had you have 20 posts again.
Yet your post total is already over 60.
I have logged every conversation so far and even though I might miscalculate the counting of your posts, 14 is a bit too much for this to happen. |

First phase: 13 posts (including some quotes that went wrong when people posts)
Second phase: 22 posts (up to post 98 in this topic)
Should be: 55
Maria has: 62
That's 7 out of the way. |
|
Very strange. Maybe whatever was hiding private posts was accidentally removed for me. |
|
It seems to be restored now. |
|
Just posting an official announcement here. If there were any kind of secretive posting method, I would make double sure that said posts did not show up on a user's post count. I'm very, very cautious. I have just been over the threads from the previous two phases and Maria's current post count completely matches the post total that she has made. There are many good reasons to suspect players, but post counts should never be one of them.
Thought I'd clear this up early. |

It's true, could happen, and to be honest I won't judge you by only that. But it's something that I need to look out for even though, and just the same everyone should. |

Thanks for the clarification. In that case I must admit I've done wrong to Maria, and for that I'm sorry. |

Don't worry about it. :) |

##Exit: North
Hopefully Erebos will answer our questions soon. I think this should really make us consider the fact that there's another group in here. They very well may have entered from somewhere else. It will be interesting to see if someone teleports every round or not.
Be careful, Ajax.
|
|
##Exit: North
Just realized I hadn't done that yet. |
|
##exit: North
Might as well get that out of the way even if it's not entirely necessary. |
|
|
Erebos my friend, were you transported from another group? Did you exit first? So many questions, one phase into our journey. |
|
Erebos welcome.
When did you arrive at this Labyrinth.
We did not see you on the outside. |
Greetings and salutations to all. I do not have any comprehension as to the method by which I came to be in this strange place with you fine lords and ladies. I was merely minding my studies in my book repository, when suddenly I found myself to be in this space. I know not by who or which method I was transported to this place.
I suppose I should introduce myself formally and properly. I am known by my order as Luminion, though you may call me Erebos if you so wish. It makes no matter to me.
|
Anyway, I'm sorry for the attack, Erebos. Would you please tell us what happened to you before you got here? Where you wandering this place with somebody else or alone? If so, can you tell us how many? Did you take note of the rooms you have been visiting or any other information about those rooms? |
Do not worry my newfound compatriot, as I can understand your being startled by my sudden apparition. As I have already expounded upon you all, I was not near this place before, and know nothing of it, or even why I came to be here.
|
One last question to Erebus.
You did seem to say you don't believe in magic, but somehow, you appeared here from virtually nowhere since the door north didn't seem to move (at least from description), so...
What time are you from? |
I did not say that I do not believe in magic, I said that I do not trust it. There is a difference, good sir.
Magic is most certainly a reality, but from my experience and studies, it is something not meddled in my respectable folk.
|
If this is what you wish, it shall be done. My studies have shown me that trust is a powerful force, and with such power comes much importance. |
|
My friend, this is certainly not what I was expecting.
First post? Surely I thought you to have been from another group in this damned labyrinth
|
|
What order are you from, Luminious? |
|

I think that indeed nobody could have expected such a thing as this.
|
What order are you from, Luminious? |
I am a mere follower of the Order of the Morning Star. We seek to spread light to the darkness that infests this world. Thinking upon it, perhaps it is for this purpose that I have been brought here. |

This labyrinth does seem pretty evil. |
|
Have you any useful information pertaining to this place?
Have you any abilities or items that would be useful for our journey?
So many questions! |

Brother Stonehard Lee, I regret to say that I do not have any items or abilities in the slightest. I am merely a student, and have but the garb on my back, and the knowledge in my head. |

Although hopeful that you would come bearing a useful item or power, I am happy to have a new face in our group. Anyone replacing Theseus must be more useful, respectful, and pro-teamwork than he.

Sir Luminous, allow me to introduce myself. I am Queen Genevieve. However, I doth wonder why Willis named you Erebos, and you are posting from the name Luminous? |
|
Erebus/Erebos is Ancient Greek for Darkness/Shadow/Deep Darkness
Luminious (similar to Luminous) seems to be the opposite of that...
Friends, I am confused. |

Erebos is the name I was given at my birth. When I joined the order of the Morning Star I was reborn as Luminion, the light of the Star brought brightness even to the darkness bestowed to me at the womb. |

These are essential and immutable forces in our world, and only by understanding then and the struggle between them can we truly spread the Glorious Light of the Morning Star. |

Morning - sun
Star - night
More opposites for you, Stonehard Lee - nice work.
And nice to meet you, Luminious. :) Welcome to the pack. What do you hope to accomplish while here in the labyrinth? |

However my brother, The sun is also a star.
Such is the nature of the Great Conflict. I hope that my unexpected trip to this place may enlighten me on its mysteries.
It is on'y through knowledge of darkness that one may spread Light. |
|
okay, this guy is a bit ... odd |
|
*Stares at suspicious Erebos*
In my religion Erebos is the primeval god of darkness, chaos and father of daimones/spirits. :/ |
|
Ok Erebos, what have you encountered in Phase 1? |
|
|

You're a barbarian, do what you do best, cleave his face! |
|
Well met Luminous.
I will refer to you as the name you desire.
We may require your knowledge in this place.
If anything we ask to continue keeping an eye on you.
Safety in numbers.
If safety is even a reality in this place. |

No reason for that, he probably doesn't taste very well anyway.

Well I'm sure it doesn't take allot of skill boiling a nice duck.

The icon is not like ours. Luminious is not at the bottom. There are other differences as well.
Is Luminious a fellow hero? Someone planted by the wizard? An illusion? |

Neither is U.R.K.'s now, so maybe I am just reading too much into things |

I have noticed tha same and am also concerned. The different icon and not a single post prior to appearing here seem to be the biggest differences.
I have seem Luminious' name appear at the bottom, as well as U.R.K.'s
|
|
Luminous is not a hero. I am unsure of if he is a useful member or if he is someone sent by the wizard. Based on the fact he is hiding his birth name, I believe he is from the wizard. |
|
Though I am really confused why Erebos said his name was so originally then quickly changed it. His addition to the party late is of great concern to me. |
|

What icon are you talking about? As for the bottom, he has appeared there before, I've seen him a few times. As for being planted by the wizard, it's something we can't really know at this time. |
|
Already there seems to be a lot going on. First of all, Maria I will help you with this amulet, we need to be trusting of each other if we are to succeed, but we also have to be on high alert and not help any enemies reach their goal.
Erebor, welcome to our group. I do hope you can shed some light on the subject and tell us what you encountered during your first phase.
##Exit: North |
|
His name does not appear on his photo like ours |
|
I don't think his picture will be enough to judge him by. |
|
|
Maria I will help you with this amulet |
Thank you. |
|
I am going to assume there might be someone else looking for this amulet. If so they are probably not in this group. I can not believe Maria to be the only one here searching for this. |

The amulet was stolen, so I assume someone else could have it or is after it. I wish I could remember who took it. The battle for it was very intense and I must have been knocked out at some point. I can't remember what happened before Clara's death. |
|
We must be cautious if we stumble upon the amulet in a room. There may be some magical trap attached to it. |
|
Definitely, especially if the thieves are still around. |
|
Before we further psychoanalyze our new friend, Luminous, I think it's important that everyone read Willis' update in the rules thread from this morning. |
|
[hate to double post but]
Also, I was rereading the thread, and noticed that in the flavour text, Theseus equipped his sword when he entered the room and felt threatened. Did this mean that Theseus had his sword all along? I know, for instance, that Airlea lost her bow & arrows upon entering.
What do all of you think of/know about this? |
|

I didn't think about that until you pointed it out. I thought it was just flavor at first. |
|
What if one of us is a thief? |

Indeed I forgot to mention this, I'm not sure if Willis just stated the flavour or accidentally gave away Theseus' weapon.
|
|
|
What if one of us is a thief? |
It might be unfortunate. |
|
I think as warriors we are all carrying weapons.
The gods see fit to when we use them.
Otherwise they are unavailable to us.
Theseus'/Wilt's/Peter's sword, Airlea's bow, I thought I had a sword and a dagger somewhere but they are not on me currently.
I feel there is magic here that affects our perceptions of what is on our person until we are required to use these objects. |

Based on the revisions of the rules I would assume the sword description was used as a means of flavour only.
|
|
yes that's what I was saying. |
|
Maybe we'll find something useful in the next room. |

My hope as well. I am curious to see the exits in the next room. Will we finally have more than one option (without backtracking)? |
|
If we do get more than one door, how should we choose the one to go through? Should we just put it to a vote? |

If someone want's to go first he can go first for all I care. However if there is no volunteer we should vote I suppose and take turns going first. I still don't want people that have item's going first in chase something similar to what happened to Theseus occurs and if someone has a helpful role ability I also would prefer that person does not go first. |

Phobos, Lord of the Chariot of Fire, and Poseidon, Lord of Horses and swift ships and the Sea, with a thousand beautiful daughters; Athena, matchless in guile, who loves men best when they are most daring; Aphrodite of the high-arched feet, and all the other immortals! Hear us! We thank you for this day of mirth. And we ask your blessings to protect us from dangers to come! |

The group readied themselves. It was time to move on.
Phase 2 will end in about an hour's time. Anybody who has not yet posted an exit action may do so. No other actions can be used, and no existing exit actions can be changed. |

Arimnestos is blessing our entire party. I commend him for this.
Particularly in his sacrifice for the ultimate protection of one other than himself.
He has earned my respect.
I have no wine but I also pray to the gods for luck. That Ajax will enter the next room unharmed.
We will go forth and be strengthened by the will of the gods. |
