The heroes stood by the lakeside and pondered for a few seconds. Theseus stood up and marched away.
"Are we leaving?" Said Wilt, looking around at the others.
Balagor woke up from his nap and shrugged. He leaped into the air and hit the floor with a thud, taking off after Theseus. The others slowly milled after them. Stonehard Lee stood at the back and waited before moving out himself. Airlea was the last to leave, watching the others carefully as they turned the corner by the entrance to the Labyrinth.
Purple sparks cascaded down the walls as Theseus looked up. Now or never right? What was the worst that would happen. He walked up to the doorway and pushed hard. The stone slab shifted under his weight and he stepped into the darkness. The others slowly milled over. Lee had to duck to fit his frame in.
The hall beyond was very decorative. It was surrounded by statues of the gods and of the minotaur. Maria took it all in, eyes open wide. Talion stood by the doorway looking carefully around.
"How far in do we have to go exactly?" Said Pai Chan suspiciously.
The group shrugged. Minos hadn't been specific.
"Well he wanted information on his fallen soldiers if I recall." Said Andrael helpfully.
"I disagree. He wanted us to explore and map the layout." Said Ajax triumphantly.
Genevieve glanced around at the purple sparks curiously. Finally Airlea spoke.
"Does anybody actually know what we're meant to be doing?" She asked.
There was some murmuring. Nobody did.
"Well there's only one way forward from here. I've done this before you know. So we might as well go through a few doors and just turn the hell back. If Minos doesn't pay me I'll make him pay with my sword." Said Theseus.
"For once I agree." Said Wilt with a smile.
They took in their surroundings curiously. Up ahead was a single doorway at the end of a long tunnel. It was illuminated by a strange light that didn't seem to have a viable source. Magic? It left the walls looking a strange orange colour. It was rather immaculate for a death-trap.
Peter stepped forward and felt a crunch. He looked down. A single piece of chalk lay on the floor.
"....second thoughts tough guy...."
The words echoed around the room. The heroes braced themselves. What was that? They eyed up their surroundings carefully. Nobody was there and it hadn't come from the group.
"Just one of the wizard's tricks...I'm sure." Said Andrael, doubting his own words slightly.

Airlea, you still got your bow and arrows? |
|
I really doubt that the first room has anything in store for us but we should be careful for the moment.
Urk, I'm taking you're going to be in charge of using the chalk?
|
|
I agree with Ajax... I doubt it, since there are only 15 of us, but we never know.
Any idea what the chalk could be used for? |
|
Doesn't look like we have any option as to which way we are going.
|
|
|
Any idea what the chalk could be used for? |
Maybe a spell or just to write on the walls? |
|
Maybe throw the chalk at the magical door? |
|

Airlea, you still got your bow and arrows? |
Unfortunately, it doesn't appear as though they managed to stay with me. |

I was thinking the same thing. It feels small, but I can't imagine there being another side? Perhaps it is hidden to us. If that's so, I wonder what their intentions are. |

Yes, I have been having that exact thought myself. |
|
|

Ajax, I think you might be right. If there is another group we better hurry up and find a solution how to get through this door. |
|
Only 15 of us? Surely Minos would want a bigger group to venture forth if even his vanguards had not made it back. |
|
|
|
Does anybody else feel this group is too small? Could there be another group going through anoter side? |
I thought labyrinths only had one way in. |
That actually depends on the builder. There could be many entrances and only through one route we could reach our goal. Or maybe us 15 is there all there is to here. |
|
Either someone tries the door, or we throw something at it.
*couch* chalk
*Walks toward the statues and examines the minotaur* |

Urk, are you unable to speak? |
|
It does seem small.
What do we think the chalk is for? Magic? |
|
*looks at statue of Athena*
|
What do we think the chalk is for? Magic? |
I think it could be magic. Maybe we have to write something on the door. The door has that weird light, after all. It might be a puzzle. |
|
Friends, give me a few minutes to catch up on everything in here. What happened at the lakeside before we began? I was not around yesterday. |
|
maybe try draw a circle or something, see what happens. |
|
*Calling from the left side of the room*
Maybe if there are others in the Labyrinth, the chalk could be usefull to leave a message to that same group?
Maybe they have one as well.
*Kicks the minotaur statue* |
|
Perhaps we left for the Labyrinth before the entire group arrived? Or no? |
|
|
Friends, give me a few minutes to catch up on everything in here. What happened at the lakeside before we began? I was not around yesterday. |
We had a BBQ or something along that with fish that only one dared to try. Aside from that, nothing else, but I missed the last few minutes before that, so I really can't say. |

I came late, but as far as I could tell it was mainly introductions. Also maria (I think) was spitting on feet. |

I feel confident that there are more people in this maze than in this group, but the only way to figure it out is to move forward. |
[QUOTE=Maria@20/3/2013 20:18] |
|
Also maria (I think) was spitting on feet. |
That wasn't me! I don't spit on things. That was Theseus or one of the other fighters. |
|
I don't know that any message needs to be left right now. Perhaps once we are actually moving through the lab and there are choices in direction, we could use it to guide them the way we are going? |
|
|
Perhaps we left for the Labyrinth before the entire group arrived? Or no? |
This could be a reason, or maybe we were the ones behind? I know it sounds fairly wrong but it's a chance that could have happened.
As for the chalk, Urk has the final word on what the chalk can be used for, let's wait on his saying. |
|

I was taken aback at the size of the group and was curious to see if I had missed some sort of division. Surely there are more than 15! |
|
|

This seems to be the basic idea for the chalk in my opinion. But again, Urk has the last word. |
|
Maybe theseus should spit on the door and see what happens.

Maybe there's a light ahead of us because we were the group left behind, in the form of fire? If there was a group ahead of us, maybe they have light leading the way or something. I'm not too sure really, but it could explain the light as a source other than magic, unless we're 100% positive it's magic? |
|

Maybe theseus should spit on the door and see what happens.

That could actually be a good idea! |

I don't think we are. I just thought it could be. |

Fools... Do you think a lousy piece of chalk would break such magic?
It's only good for marking. 250 marks and it breaks. |
|
If there is another group, surely they have begun their first phase. I don't see them being held, to only enter this room after we move on. |

Hey, Stonehard, how does your body handle magic? |
The magic from Willis is the cause of the deterioration and death of many of my fellow giants in the woods. For some unknown reason, I have not had any reaction to the increased magic in the area.
Ironic, since I am the weakest and smallest of my people. |

##Exit: North
I'm not planning to just stand around and talk about it all day. Let's get going already. |

Alright, I guess. Onward to the mysterious light! |

A single exit. We should proceed with caution. Though only having one option kind of limits our choices.
As would be expected.
Please be careful everyone. |

As soon as there's a split, I'm going one way, the rest of you go the other. That'd suit me perfectly. |

It's dangerous for family runts like yourself. For the likes of me it's just fine. I don't need a group to slow me down. I'll go in, find whatever in hell it is the fat king wants and collect my reward. I expect to be sailing out of Knossos by the end of tomorrow. |

I really do not think we have much to go on, outside of the fact that there is only one exit from this room. Hopefully, nothing happens to any of us when we leave this first room.

So the choice is clear

Next time you do that, I'll remove your tongue. |
|
Thank you for posting that. I was looking at the description more closely for map purposes and was unclear if it was describing two separate areas or just one for this phase. It describes a decorative hall, but then says that the exit is at the end of a long tunnel. |

We may need to update it to account for the hallway. We'll be able to figure that out once we get to exploring more.
The hallways could be long enough to account for the length of some of the other rooms, we'll have to wait and see. I'll make note of it somewhere should we run into an issue down the line. |

Awesome job, Mr. Lee - thank you for that. I'm so sticking with you for now ;) hahaa |

Peter, you wouldn't happen to have any bread, would you? |
Hahaa oh no. I'm sorry, Maria. If I did, I would surely share with you and the rest of the group.
How did you I was born the son of a baker? ;) |
|
Theseus, pray that you don't fall in a trap and have allies willing to assist you. Though such irony would be amusing... |
|
Theseus I do agree with the group in saying it could be incredibly foolish to wander off on your own. You never know what may be out there and you may not want to be alone throughout it all... especially if you run into a trap or wind up needing assistance, but if this is your true desire, then who are we to stop you? It's all on you, man. Would you really like for absolutely no one to follow you? |

I think Theseus knows something that we don't |
Either he knows something we don't know or he has a personal agenda to fulfill. |
|
|
If Theseus is compelled to travel alone, so be it. I fear there is more to this than not wanting to be around those in the group. I wish we knew more of the situation. |
True it's up to him to do this, but I hope this doesn't bite us in the ass in case it happens.
From what I've seen from him, he doesn't seem that way. Cocky and arrogant yes, but stupid not so far. |
|
My fears are that he is being arrogant so that we do not fight hard to have him stay (or follow him), and that his leaving will cost the group a valued member (activity, role, etc)
Maybe he must find himself alone in a certain number of phases? Maybe he has an item or scroll he can only read while alone (or something that becomes public to all in the room when activated/read)?
Part of me hopes he is just being arrogant to be arrogant and that we won't be losing anything of value, but I highly doubt that. |
|
If any if my thoughts ring true Theseus, please help us help you. |

Well so far he's being quite active and he doesn't fear what's beyond the door (so he goes first), which leads me to think he might have an extra life or something along that (yes, even though this is the first phase and chances are that there isn't something to kill us up next). So unless we meet a teleporter or something like that, he's useful to us in that way. |

Completely agree.
I don't think he's foolish enough to believe he can survive alone unless he has some particular power that would make him safer than the rest of us. I also don't believe we would be wise to allow him to just wander away without questioning this as we are and deciding if this is really the best option for the group.

We just don't want you doing something reckless and getting yourself killed so soon, Theseus! I'm glad that you might stay with us longer. :) |

Also, just to make sure... Anyone else has or had (and then lost) any items in their inventory?
I forgot to ask this beforehand but it seems some people did and lost them while entering this place. I for once never had an item in my inventory (the thing about a canteen was just randomness i toyed with during the meeting). |

My inventory's as empty too. I didn't have anything official at the lake. |

I wonder if anybody else ended up with the arrows that had been mentioned before (if there was any at first) |

Those were only mentioned in my description as I arrived at the lake. Nothing showing in my actual inventory, in case I hadn't made that clear earlier. |

We should keep the group together as long as possible as we go further into the labyrinth. It would be foolish of Theseus to abandon us. We should also use the chalk later on if someone gets caught in a trap or otherwise impaired and said person wants to catch up. Think it would be best to write W for west and so on with the chalk.

I recommend that people wont stick around here, the door might trigger something once we are through, to get rid of cowards. |

I believe the rules state that anyone not submitting an action will automatically follow the first person to make an action.
It looked like you must post a stay command to remain in the room |

Wanted to clear this up for anyone down the line, and because Balagor mentioned that no one should stay here. |
Thanks for that, I had totally missed all of that |

Missed that to. I also thank you for that information. |

I didn't see that either, but all 15 of us have either chosen to move or follow for this phase. |

I understand it to be that if they haven't moved within 2 phases the Lab will claim them. I believe it also stated that they must make this decision (post) themselves.

I stand corrected, in reading further on in the same paragraph I see the statement you are referring to. My apologies. |
|
So it seems as long as we remain together we will all move together.
This is good news.
But we must still stay on our toes.
Growing complacent will only lead to our demise. |
|
It's only a matter of time til a teleporter, a freezing or similar, leaves someone behind or moved into another room.

My pack is empty as well.
Also Theseus, I am glad you seem to have a change in heart. I will be the first to admit that I admired your leadership qualities and would prefer you stay for now. Thank you. |

We are approaching the end of the phase. Is it possible to be excited and nervous about moving on at the same time?
|
I believe the word you are looking for is anticipation. |

The group readied themselves by the exit. It was time to move on.
Phase 1 will end in about an hour's time. Anybody who has not yet posted an exit action may do so. No other actions can be used, and no existing exit actions can be changed. |

Let's go guys. Time to find out what awaits us. :) |
|
May the gods be with us.
May we receive what is coming to us. |
|
I hope these gods favor us. |
