This could be a reason, or maybe we were the ones behind? I know it sounds fairly wrong but it's a chance that could have happened.

As for the chalk, Urk has the final word on what the chalk can be used for, let's wait on his saying.

Maybe there's a light ahead of us because we were the group left behind, in the form of fire? If there was a group ahead of us, maybe they have light leading the way or something. I'm not too sure really, but it could explain the light as a source other than magic, unless we're 100% positive it's magic?

It's only good for marking. 250 marks and it breaks.

If there is another group, surely they have begun their first phase. I don't see them being held, to only enter this room after we move on.
