Are you helping him with mapping out the area near the Exit? I think this specific thing could not be good for us.
Dr. Patterson referred to several fresh corpses to me as worthless during our time talking. Walter, Baby Pete, Wikey that I remember. On the other hand one of the few things he wanted to know from me was how close Roy, who had to be one of the first deaths in the game, was to the Exit. He has a list so he knows that Roy has been dead for what, 40 to 50 days now? It's as if he be a cold case detective.
I think Roy is the "permanent shell" he told me about. He could have possessed Roy at any point since he died because Patterson has been playing as long as we have. He has been saving that body for a long time for a good reason, I think.
All of the above coupled with the facts that he claimed that Rose, the claimed Messiah, rejected him possessing her as he has everyone else so far ("she must have been scum" he said) and I also said Dr. Patterson before he did, so I could have been accidentally feeding him a claim to make.
Roy also severely misinterpreted his point in this life (Willis alluded to this post Russian Roulette.) Roy also had some mysterious final words. Yes, I be still thinking about Magent. I be seeing no reason why if Patterson can win with us at all as he claims ("under very narrow circumstance") he wouldn't tell us how we could make that happen. I understand he's not going to be showing us his whole hand so easy, but something is wiggling its dong in the darkness.
Also Alex. Ever since this "maybe he's the Hacker" he only shows up but never expounds upon what he sees when he touches a straggler.
(That wasn't nearly as succinct as I hoped. This could all be pointless if he was trying to use corpse locations to map out the labyrinth but...somehow that feels more farfetched than what I shat out above.)
TL;DR I think Roy is the person Dr. Patterson can possess permanently. And due to some of the things he said I think he might in fact be the Devil Roth is looking for. Also Alex - what do? | In this world the weak are always the victims of the strong. |

Or it could be a centaur.
Which I find to be arguably far worse than the devil. | In this world the weak are always the victims of the strong. |

How could I help him with the area near the exit? Nobody has been there yet.
He asked me where the exit was but I wasn't on to answer.
Here's the map I made for him. It pretty much shows him how to get from where he is to the COS. It isn't entirely accurate though, because he told me afterwards that he was in the room with the dawg statue, so he's a space south and west of the green square.

Because I thought you had a rather complete map. He wasn't even asking for room numbers, just how many rooms away/how close Roy was to the Exit. This is something you could help him with without having explored the area.
I mean since Jeff knows how many unexplored rooms there are and where they are, you would surely be able to give him a general path. Not that you would. | In this world the weak are always the victims of the strong. |

Oh I know where the exit is. But I don't know the path to take or where walls or locked doors are along that way. It's also likely boobytrapped to all hell down there, not that it would matter to a ghost, but I doubt he'd be able to sustain a body that is constantly being blown to pieces. |
Unless it was Walter, and given he doesn't try to nonchalantly walk past a crazed Charon again, that would be a pretty beefy body to inhabit.
As to your second point, is down south a bit uncharted territory? If so I'm all for it. | In this world the weak are always the victims of the strong. |
