The general idea is that whoever wants to participate in writing a short story will sign up here. The length of the story to be determined, but not super long.

Then when we have all the people:

Each person submits a title for a story for a different person, either randomly or for someone specific, not sure which yet.

Each person will then have to write a story based on the title they've been given.

In addition, there will be 3 "items" that will have to be included somewhere in the story. Random things, specific people, a certain location, a type of animal, a sound, even just a word, etc. These would also be chosen by another player, but I'm thinking a different one than the person who chose the title.

And then after the writing period is done (I'd want to say no longer than two weeks, but we'll see), they would be posted here for all to enjoy.

The idea was formed in the NaNoWriMo 2020 thread that Rose made.

Would there be much interest in doing something like this?

We should all submit a few titles, if we're doing random, so we can choose from a few.

Ooh I love a good prompt I'm in.

I think we should make 3 titles and randomize them and give 3 to each person to choose from.

We should do like an Fe fanfic challenge sometime soon we probably haven't had any Fe fics in a while.
Maybe like ____ & _____ go to ______ and that's the initial story beat you work with. Two members and a random place... Or exist in a certain setting like a haunted house or a steampunk city.

is 500 words too little? Because that's what I'm thinking of capping it at. Either that, or having a range where people can pick whichever they feel most comfortable with. Like minimum 250 words to a maximum of 1000?

Like the story title, these will also be assigned randomly to another writer. Ideally, I'll figure out a way to make sure that each person's submissions go to two different players to make it more fun.

Then once the writing period opens (I'm thinking about 2 weeks, but we can go longer, I would prefer if we didn't go over a month to write a silly little story that's only meant for fun and entertainment).

So the challenge would be then to write a story between 250 and 1000 words, whatever you feel comfortable with, and should be based on the title you've been given and must include the list of 3 things that were also assigned to you.

And that's it. It's just a fun, silly game to pass some time and a chance to be creative and entertaining that we can all enjoy reading once they're posted publicly at the end of the writing period.
