Hey, so I'm proposing a new variation for FE Music polls, and want to check to see if anyone is interested in participating. It would be sort of a combination of FE Play List and FE Listens, and to get crazy, we could finish it off with a bracket competition.

Ideally, I'd like 8 people to commit to doing this, although we could do more if needed. Here is how I see this playing out.

1. Each person puts together a playlist of 8 total songs. These could be your all-time favorites, something you like right now, something you want to torture others by making them listen to it, etc. Only rule being no more than one song from any one artist.
2. Next, we open up each playlist for voting by the rest of FE. People listen to the playlists and pick their 3 favorites. At the end of the voting period, all songs from each person are then ranked from 1-8 based on those votes (ties broken by random draw).
3. Then, those songs get placed into a full bracket based upon their individual person rankings. With 8 people and 8 songs, this is a perfect 64-song bracket. With different numbers of participants, byes would be introduced (TBD if this happens) to make the bracket work. Voting would once again open up to anyone on FE to pick their favorite from each head-to-head matchup.
4. Winners of each match-up advance until an overall winner is selected.

I will both volunteer to organize this version, as well as throw my hat in as one of the participants. If you are interested, signup below, and once we get enough interest, I'll request playlists from each of you.

Yeah, for the Christmas one people were voting on the entire playlist as a whole. In this, it would all be about the individual song.

Now that I'm thinking through the logistics of this a bit more, if we have more than 8 people who want to participate, then we'll just take fewer songs from each person into the final 64-song bracket. So, say 10 people wanted to submit lists, we'd take the top 6 songs from each person, and four songs would randomly get a bye in the first round.

But the playlist has to win first before moving onto the individual songs? Or it's all about the individual songs from the beginning?

Each person makes their own playlist. So, you would pick 8 songs for your list. Then people would listen to your 8 songs and pick their 3 favorites from that list. Then those rankings serve to seed the songs into the final bracket.

I would love to submit my top playlist. So sign me up.
