---
As a reminder, we have chosen to pick out songs that stuck out to us, or ones that you would listen to again/put on a playlist. There is no hard rule to what songs you have to include here, but they should just be the highlights of the album for you. Try to pick at least two, if you can, but you can throw on as many as you want here. (My normal habit with this is to put a small star next to a song right after I listen to it to remind myself that it stuck out to me.).
On top of this, we are giving the album an official rating from 1-10. Your rating can be off any system or scale that you choose, but here is a general scale just in case you are needing a little help pinpointing where it should be:
|
10. A classic. One of your favorite albums of all time.
9. A great album. One of the best albums of the year.
8. A good album. You would suggest it to a friend.
7. An above average album. The songs hold up pretty well but the album won't change your life.
6. A promising album. There is potential for them to create great music, they just might not have perfected their sound.
5. An okay album. Your life is pretty unbothered after listening to it. You'd listen if it was on but nothing more.
4. An uninspired album. It has a few good songs but the rest were bad.
3. A disappointing album. You expected better from the album and artist and neither delivered on it.
2. A bad album. You would never go out of your way to listen to this artist or album again.
1. A horrible album. You can't understand how this album crawled its way out of a studio. |

Aside from 'No Scrubs' I know all these songs. The original versions are perfect and cannot be topped.
Makes me wonder what the point of this album is. I get the impression it's just some self-indulgent fun by a band that doesn't need to try anymore. I might enjoy that, we'll see! | |

From what I read, fans of Weezer have been requesting they do some cover songs for a long time, so they just decided to do a whole album of cover songs.
Also, how do you not know "No Scrubs"? You can't possibly have lived through the late 90s/early 2000s without hearing that song everywhere. | |

Yeah they’ve been playing some of these songs during their tours and fans then requested it.
When I went to see them last year they played like 3 of them and the crowd loved it. I’m more a fan of their own work.
I don’t think they’re trying to be new/inventive or anything with the songs, it’s just their take on them.
No Scrubs is kinda hilarious, Rivers being gay for 3 minutes. | |

Oh so it's for the fans. That's cool.
I just listened to No Scrubs, of course I know this song! Just never knew its name. | |

I'll give it a 7
I don't think a single one of the songs were an improvement on the original, but it was perfectly listenable / wouldn't mind listening to it again. Except for Africa cuz jfc that cover was playing everywhere last year
Take On Me and Sweet Dreams were the best parts, both of those were more or less on par with the original | |

blah
Gave it a 6. Nothing really stands out and they did sure fire hits that were on the safe side. Would have liked to see some songs that weren't and they put their spin on it. |

So far, I agree. They played it safe and didn't really change anything up too drastically. I enjoyed Everybody Wants To Rule The World and Happy Together. It's a fun listen because the songs are all well-known. Wasn't too much of a fan of No Scrubs however, but I'm glad they included something from the 90s. I liked the drums on Stand By Me.
Overall, I'd give it a 6 because it's a fun listen, amd while Weezer put their own spin on familiar songs, it's nothing too original. | |

Oh right.
Well as a Weezer album, and compared to their other albums, I'd give it a 5 max. Unbothered, if it's on it's fine.
But then as a fan of the band, I do like some of them more than the original - as I just love Rivers' vocals and the style of the band. And I'd recommend it to a friend because it's a fun album with known songs and a good introduction to the band. So in the general scheme I'd give it an 8.
I probably shouldn't vote though since this wasn't new for me. | |

1/10
A completely pointless album. They really went out of their way to sound like the original records. Every track only made me want to listen to the original. | |
